Advanced Personal computer!!!
The Compaq Presario 6027us was the one brought by my Mom for the entire family use. I personally brought the Compaq Presario 6350us, because I am one of those who need cutting-edge gagets. While the Presario 6027us is a notch below the Presario 6350us, its powerful features still leaves many others in the dust. With its fast 2.0 GHz processor, doing almost anything will not be a problem. Gaming, however, was not as good as the Presario 6350us. With 80GB hard drive, storing music and other programs will not be a problem. My family has over 200 songs installed along with many other applications. We still have 70 GB left. This computer should be the ideal choice for many people in need of a new PC and should last for another 6 to 8 years.The PC also came with a design easy for upgrading graphic cards and RAM/Hard Drive memory.One could just open it and it would be easy to change.My sister, a week ago, opened it and exchanged the "Integrated Intel Extreme" graphics card for an advanced "nvidia GeForce 4."This just made the already advanced PC into a cutting edgeCompaq Presario.I personally recommend this PC for its great price, however, if you don't mind paying extra then settle for the Compaq Presario 6350us or the even more powerful Presario 6370us.

Very good system
This is a great choice for anyone looking for a mid to high end PC.This system has a nice array of components and Compaq's reliability is pretty good.If you are a heavy 3D gamer you may have to upgrade the graphics within a year or so, but that's true of most of the systems sold today.Read more

Good Computer bad buy
I bought this computer in January of 2002. I have had so many problems with it. Every time I would call up compaq I would wait 2-6 hours just to talk to a support specialist then they would transfer me and again i would wait an additional 1-6 hours. I don't have the patience to wait and if you don't have 10 hours a month to wait on hold with compaq don't buy a compaq.

Not too shabby, but.....
it still suffers from some typical Compaq flaws. This is a handy all around household unit with some gaming features that make it more playable than the 5400. Certainly, the price isn't bad either. However, it does not include a monitor, which you'll need to buy separately. The machine's limitations for gamers lie in its limited, mothboard-bound graphics capabilities (a result of the low power NVidia card) and its mediocre ESS sound. There is an aqequate sized hard drive and a pretty good 12X CD burner, so MP3 collectors will not suffer too much. Anyway, like I said, it's a good, basic machine and if that's your interest, you'll be happy with the unit. I should point out that expanding these Compaqs (a lot like their HP bretheren) is a daunting task; things are tight in the case and adding cards and drives is a challenge, so you better like the machine the way you get it, and not the way you envision it upgraded. Lastly, Compaq's reliability has been acceptable, though its service has been less so.

Compaq the Weapon of Choice
I own a lesser of the line of Compaq (I have a 950 mhz). I have tried Windows XP though. I find that Compaq is a very high quality product. It is up with Dell, above Hewlett Packard. I highly suggest that you do no purchase a Hewlett Packard because of many reasons (see my review on it). I like the audio, keyboard, and all the small things about a Compaq. CD-RW write drives are a must for the future. Windows XP is wonderful for multiple users. It has a sign in screen. You can personalize your sign in with things such as your own wallpaper, sounds, pointing arrow, etc. I also prefer Windows above Apple. Don't do it!!!

i love this pc i got it as a birthday present and it is awsome. it runs multiple files so easily.mine came with 248 MB of ram and 2.60 GHZ i got it at wall-mart for $500.the only reason i gave it 4 stars is because it does not run games to perfectly.but,it downloads things(like songs,and games) very fast.all around a good computer(even though it is a little noisy) Solid starting machine... just add RAM!

Great PC
Ive had this pc since april and it has worked great- good value for the money- but of course you have to buy many other things to go with it. But its great value , its fast performance and ive had no complaints with it since purchase. It has dvd/cd rom -256 mb, 80 cb, and has a great look to it. This one shown is blue but mine came in Black/Silver color. Very nice/highly recomended. Worth Money.

Old news
This system cost as much as much faster systems.Why pay the money for a 1.8GHz CPU when you can have a 2.4GHz CPU?Maybe this was a good deal last year but it's out of date now.

MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK
I looked at several computers in this price range and this system for the money was the best. The fast speed of the AMD 1.8Ghz processor is great and with all of the software and expandibility this system simply can't be beat.Plays DVD'sand burns CD's flawlessly.My friend paid twice as much for another system and this Compaq(HP)package not only outperforms his but comes with more features. Great Deal
A great computer for a cheap price. I would recommended upgrade the RAM as soon as possible to at least 512 MB.HP support is very fast and excellent.I was never on hold for more than 10 minutes.Support is from India but that probably the same for other computer manufacturers.

Compaq Presario S5100NX Terrific
I recently purchased the Compaq Presario at Best Buy. What a wonderful computer. I brought it home set it up and was on my way. After having so much trouble with my Gateway computer, I was leary about which brand to purchase. Several of my friends have tried Compaq Presario and love it. (Compaq/HP are now one and the same). You get a great computer for the price. The CD-RW drive, a DVD Drive, a huge 80GB hard drive, and plenty of Ram. It's expandible up to 1GB of ram. It doesn't come with a lot of software, but a lot of trial software programs. But at this price, I'm not complaining. If your looking for a nice snappy computer and a great price I'd give this one a try. Your pocketbook will thank you.

THAT'S A NEGATIVE STAR
Warning: I ordered a Compaq Presario desktop in Sep 2003 directly from Compaq and the computer would not boot up. When you need to call technical support it takes at least 45 minutes until you can speak with someone. After not getting the computer to work I had to send it back. Got another and it booted halfway and then froze up. Waited an hour to get to tech support and believe me: these people know nothing and are very unhelpful.
