Increasing power charge time
For those of you experiencing problems with sustaining a power charge...I had the same problem and my iPAQ only held a charge for a few hours, I was always losing data and eventually stopped using the device.I was ready to throw it out and I put it away for serveral months.I decided to give it another try and discovered that by adjusting the "Standby" setting (found under Settings, Power, then click Standby tab) the device now holds a charge for several days depending on usage.The "Standby" setting was set at 100 and I brought that setting down to 25.Give it a try before you give up on your iPAQ!

Reliable when new...not so after a few years
I bought my 3900 series Ipaq brand new (not refurbished).It has worked GREAT for the first 2 years.During the 3rd year, the battery started dying.I sent it back to have the battery replaced and have had trouble ever since.I do not believe at this time that the battery was ever bad.I believe there is an internal problem that makes this unit "think" that the battery isn't charged, or that really drains the battery power quickly.After charging the unit to 100% charged at midnight, I have gone back at 8am to find the battery completely dead.For the first few times, the data could be recovered.After that, I had to keep restoring the data in order to use it.Interestingly, I pulled the unit off the charger at 80% as I didn't have time to let it charge.That time it lasted for 4 days without problems.I have heard this complaint from all the 3800 and 3900 series owners that I know.If you want to buy this unit, it's great as long as you can charge it often.Otherwise, be prepared to buy another one after a few years (new) or a few months (used/refurbished).
Power issues
I have had my 3955 for only 16 months of relatively light usage (I do not even use it every day, as I quickly learned how rapidly the unit burns through a charge).Now, for no apparent reason, the internal battery will not hold a charge . . . fully charged off the docking station, the unit is fully discharged (and all my data and settings gone!) less than 24 hours later after the unit has not been used at all!For this kind of money, I would expect better battery life and the ability to self-install a new battery, rather than having to send the unit in for service.I will probably not purchase another iPaq unless these issues are addressed by HP. ... Don't waste your hard earned cash.
I have been using the Navman 3420 coupled to an Ipaq 3850 for over 1 year and am constantly disappointed by its performance. WASTE OF MONEY
Very unreliable. Clumsy user interface. Couple of times I had to pull over and wait for the stupid thing to lock on the sattelites. Often needs a PDA reset. Imagine having to reset your PDA , start the program again and enter the destination again while driving in traffic.

Good product, If you can get it to work.
I was running the NAVMAN GPS on a iPAQ 3955. To make this short, after doing a "Hard" reset and applying the latest Soft-Paq I could get it to work 1 out of 10 times.Read more

Good, but can do with more enhancements
I've had this PDA for 6 months and it's been very useful in most cases.My one big complaint is that you cannot use a bluetooth cordless headset to listen to mp3 music/audio.This is something HP needs to upgrade.I would rather not have to switch to a corded headset just to listen to music.

I bought this unit one year ago, and I love it.I have some recommendations about ways to take the best of it:
Really good, haven'tfound the perfect PDA yet, but close
If it could do more screens in landscape, especially the internet, it would be a a 10 (out of 5 starts. I like the combination of a useable keyboard and stylus, the battery ife is very long. I don't need a camera. The screen can always be bigger and better, but I was happy with it for business and intrenet use, I'd still have it someone didn'swipe it. I'm likely to buy another one.

Piece of junk at a very high price
My company paid for one of these units for me.I hadn't really used PDAs before but knew of some friends who used them and liked them.

I have owned the Ipaq 5555 for a year.My review is far from positive. The unit has glitzy features but many disappointments.Battery life is not long enough for practical professional use. Handwriting recognition is about 90% at best and usually less.The unit has a slippery exterior that should be kept in a case; a poor engineering design , unless they want one to drop it.

This was a $150 dollar item that never arrived. I contacted the seller 3 times without a reply.Also I am not the only one...check the history.Do not buy from this seller! I have waited over a month and I now have to go through a 2 week refund process....

A very handy unit for both personal and professional use
The Compaq iPAQ H3660 is a high-end palmtop device for both personal and professional applications. With its integrated comfportably sized memory of 64MB it stands out above many of its competitors (newer models available with even more memory) and can also be easily expanded using appropriate memory cards. Dont listen to other ppls reviews.
This is a great product.DUST DOES NOT ENTER THE SCREEN. People saying that is incorrect.What was behind the screen had nothing to do with dust.Compaq had a problem with a company in Taiwan that installs the screen.Do to poor work tiny glass fragments were left behind.That is what the so called "dust" is.This problem has been fixed with all the new iPaqs.Amazon.com only sells new ones, their will NOT be a problem with the screen. Microsoft activesync has a problem when other usb devices are in the computer.I found Microsoft ridiculous when you call user support.Your best bet is to call compaq where they will give a solution that works perfectly.There is a lot of softweare for the ipaq out, and much more coming.For gamers, go to PocketGamer.org for all the gaming news.You can get great emulators to play all the old Nintendo and SuperNintendo games.I recomend the IBM microdrive or if that is too expensive get the Viking cf card.This is by far the best Pocket PC on the line.The 3630 and the 3650 are the exact same product w/ ho differences what so all.I called Compaq to confirm this.The only difference w/ the new compaq 3635 is the cf card that comes w/ it.The new one costs 100 dollars more, where you can buy a cf expansion pack for 35 dollars.I recomend getting the 3635 or 3650. ...
