extraordinary for the money
Bought the M2010 from Circuit City about two weeks after it was introduced for $600 after rebates (all of which have come through, I'm glad to say).I felt it was an extraordinary value then and after using it for several months I haven't changed my mind.Although 40gig in on the short side these days, it appears more than adequate, and in any case one should always have an external HD or disc burner for backup (having had 5 HD failers since 1979, I speak from experience.) My immediate upgrade was an additional 512 meg memory.The great weakness of the M2010 is it's 6 cell battery, which will not get you through a 2 hour DVD; a 12 cell is available, but only from HP at $180, about 1/3 the price of the whole computer.

HP makes bad products
HP products are horrible. After about 2 months since purchasing the laptop, something broke and I couldn't use it without the battery in it. So the battery was depleted quickly. Then the power connector on the back went loose, so I had to put up with constant interruptions because I had to always jiggle the power connector in the back for the power to get back on. After a while nothing was working. So I sent it for repair just before the warranty expired. They sent it back and they didn't do anything to fix it. I called customer service again and they told me to send it back. I also purchase a new extended warranty to keep them working on it. I wasted about a month on their incompetence and deception before they called me and said I have to pay for the motherboard because the motherboard is not under warranty. That was the first time I ever heard this. So now I am trying to get the money back for the extended warranty I paid for nothing. Customer service wasn't rude. But the company engages in deceptive practices and makes bad products. Too bad I couldn't give a 0 star.

Very Good Laptop & You Just Can't Beat The Price!
I got this at CompUSA for 500+tax AR. This was bought for my parents, so the majority of the usage will be for web surfing and e-mailing. I also have a Toshiba M35 that i paid over 1800 a year or so ago, the majority of this review will be a comparison between the two, yes i know that it is unfair to put this against that other one, but i was surprised at how this laptop can hld its own. I use the benchmark portion that is in a utility program called batteryeater to give you a reference between the two.

Bad printer
My friend has this printer and he says its horrible! The print quality is awfull. Though, it's speed is fast, this is a horrible quality printer. Two of my friends on Compaq computers. One put it in the garage a year ago and has been happy with his new one. My other friend suffers from having one with Windows 98 (not to mention incredibly slow) and is going to get a new one soon. Compaq I guess is just a horrible company.

Ok for text, not for anything else
I have used this printer for about 1 1/2 years. I t has just completely shut off and will no longer work. It is a great printer if you only want to print e-mails or print text for school reports. I tried to get my money's worth and use it for photos, cd covers and labels, greeting cards, and transparencies. They printed and were usable, but there were lines in the color. The quality is not as good as other printers that I have used for the same projects. The transparencies and photos were the worse. If you tried to copy form a scanner, everything was blurred.

w0w... this [stinks]
"w0w... this ..." is the first thing that comes to mind when you use this printer.The first time I brought it home, i thought, NICE a COLOR printer.Little did I know, this color printer is the most likely to be nominated piece of ...THe first time i printed something it worked really well.But after maybe 3 uses, the color scratched off and lines started to appear.The printer is flimsy and cheap looking.If you wanted to (which is not a bad idea) you could break it easily.The cartridges cost too much and after a while the printer messes up all the ink and never again prints with color.People, people, look at this, does this sound like something you want in your home?Put this ... where it belongs, in your dumpster. :) ... Worked for me....
My Compaq Ipaq has always worked for me.Mine was actually from my grandfather, he won it.It's got very little memory, 16 MB, but it has a slot for an SD card.Overall, I like the system.All the parts are working fine now after a few years.The battery life is somewhere around five hours.I like the size, but the problem is you can't carry it around with much memory unless you use the expanison (memory card) pack, which makes it bulky and heavy.However, it has good graphics (it supports lots of free or shareware games), can be used as an mp3 player, typewriter/laptop, and is good for just a calendar or memo organizer.I think it's a good buy.

Funky Construction
I must say, for such a ...piece of equipment, this device is not made very well.Before I purchased the Compaq, I owned a Palm V.Whereas the Palm never failed me, in less than a year of ownership, the Compaq has developed several problems: Almost Excited

Although this item is advertised as an ethernet/phone combo device, it is not. It is simply a retractable phone cord with an RJ-11 (phone)connector. Average laptop for a good price
I bought my laptop in August of 2004 and it is now March of 2006. I actually bought the R3000 but I hope this review can help others buying laptops (...). I have no idea if HP changed the computer structurally but HP did upgrade the hard drive memory and other smaller features. Buying a laptop was difficult and it is not a task I am looking forward to doing again. It is impossible to balance price and performance along with all the other features in the lower price range that determine weight and battery power. If a buyer wanted the higher end laptop, then there would be less compromise. But then the buyer would probably not be looking at a Presario. After about six months, my touchpad stopped working and my experience with customer service was hellish trying to convince them that the touchpad was in fact a hardware problem. I finally did send the laptop in after numerous hours berating the Indian taskforce. But I have never had a pleasant experience with laptop customer service when it is difficult to prove a hardware problem rather than a software problem. Also, after about a year and a half, my dvd burner stopped burning. I hope HP fixed the DVD setup because its placement is very vulnerable to wear and tear. It was not fun either convincing the service team that my burner did not burner. But, honestly, take the customer service consideration out of the picture because customer service SUCKS at all computer companies.Get the 3 year warranty if you plan on keeping this laptop for more than year. Seriously. Do not mess around. (...). The laptop is very heavy and buy the better battery because the lowerpriced battery can barely sustain the computer for an hour. In fact, if you plan on taking long plane trips and want to use the laptop, this is not the laptop for you although I believe some planes have power outlets now.Do not buy the windows office program. RIPOFF. Get the open source version or scam it from a friend. Basically, if you need perfection in a laptop, invest more money into your laptop. If you can tolerate a good heavy computer with flaws, this is not a bad purchase. But honestly, at this price range, mediocrity is what you will get. Don't expect miracles.

I have bought this computer 4 mounts ago . I am a computer engineer and as my work needs , I loaded a lot of programming tools like IBM Websphere , oracle 9i DB and extra games on it . By the help of 1GByte memory , enough hard drive and , thanks to AMD , Athlon 3200+ CPU , the computer successfully handle all the hard works . And it also goodat gaming .
