HP a1430n Crashed twice now
I bought this computer in May, it crashed 17 days later.Sent it in under warranty, got it back and it crashed one week later.I don't have any idea what is wrong but I have never had problems like this.It's very frustrating

extraordinary for the money
Bought the M2010 from Circuit City about two weeks after it was introduced for $600 after rebates (all of which have come through, I'm glad to say).I felt it was an extraordinary value then and after using it for several months I haven't changed my mind.Although 40gig in on the short side these days, it appears more than adequate, and in any case one should always have an external HD or disc burner for backup (having had 5 HD failers since 1979, I speak from experience.) My immediate upgrade was an additional 512 meg memory.The great weakness of the M2010 is it's 6 cell battery, which will not get you through a 2 hour DVD; a 12 cell is available, but only from HP at $180, about 1/3 the price of the whole computer.

HP makes bad products
HP products are horrible. After about 2 months since purchasing the laptop, something broke and I couldn't use it without the battery in it. So the battery was depleted quickly. Then the power connector on the back went loose, so I had to put up with constant interruptions because I had to always jiggle the power connector in the back for the power to get back on. After a while nothing was working. So I sent it for repair just before the warranty expired. They sent it back and they didn't do anything to fix it. I called customer service again and they told me to send it back. I also purchase a new extended warranty to keep them working on it. I wasted about a month on their incompetence and deception before they called me and said I have to pay for the motherboard because the motherboard is not under warranty. That was the first time I ever heard this. So now I am trying to get the money back for the extended warranty I paid for nothing. Customer service wasn't rude. But the company engages in deceptive practices and makes bad products. Too bad I couldn't give a 0 star.

Very Good Laptop & You Just Can't Beat The Price!
I got this at CompUSA for 500+tax AR. This was bought for my parents, so the majority of the usage will be for web surfing and e-mailing. I also have a Toshiba M35 that i paid over 1800 a year or so ago, the majority of this review will be a comparison between the two, yes i know that it is unfair to put this against that other one, but i was surprised at how this laptop can hld its own. I use the benchmark portion that is in a utility program called batteryeater to give you a reference between the two.

HP Pavilion 5130us by KaTwo
The track pad does disable when you want to type. It reengages when one restarts or exits from hibernation. The shift key is a "sticky" key which allows one to use it for CTL-ALT-SHIFT combinations -- thus the issue of sometimes when you hold down the shift key longer than 4 secs. it locks into CAPITALS.
I miss my IBM
Compared to the keyboard on my old IBM A31, the keyboard sucks. It's noisy, tough, and they keys rattle. I also wish it had a trackpoint device so I could disable the touchpad. The touchpad also needs an on/off switch like I saw on some of the other HP models for when I am using a mouse. Also, spontaneously, the keyboard will suddenly start typing in all caps for a minute or two. It even happened when I initially started typing this! I put Windows XP Professional on instead of the Media Center and it still does it.

Excellent Desktop Replacement
I bought the zd7010 on a whim to replace my atrotious Gateway two years ago. I usually don't buy HP products, especially since HP and Compaq are one and the same. However, I have never been happier with it.I havent had a problem with it yet.I have read the earlier reviews on this site about putting to memory sticks in it and it wont work.Well I put two good quality sticks of 512Mb in it and had no problems.I suspected they put low quality sticks in it.Also, if people think this laptop is loud, then they dont have a real gaming computer at home.Anyway, this laptop has run everything I have thrown at it, including half life 2.I have also literally went around the globe with it on numerous times on several deployments.I would recommend this laptop to anyone

Year down the line and its a great door stop

HP consumer service is to be watched
A month ago I bought two hp compaq nc 6000. A week after one started showing random problems with the display at sartup. It was sent for repair and returned with no repair done as the problem did not came out during the eight days it was in repair.

I'm extremely happy with the Compaq SR1650NX
This system hasn't had a single glitch since I got it -- like Taylor, I spent some time removing unwanted software, and there's a ton of it.
Nice computer
I just bought this computer from our local Military exchange.I am overall pleased with it.I live overseas and was able to quickly connect to the internet with a local ISP in minutes.I tend to run several programs at once for photo editing and custom projects, and I love that I can switch between programs with no drag time at all.The large video card has enable us to finally play MOH games that our old system couldn't support.

Wrong Picture Displayed
The computer is ok, yet the picture, that was displayed in Amazaon and in the store that the Amazon webpage send me, is the picture of a different computer. That is wrong because when you are buying someting you want to know what it look like, not to base one's purchase in someting that's not the truth.
