Designed to maximize performance while minimizing expense, the HP Pavilion ze5730us Notebook PC is a solid entry-level mobile computer that features wireless connectivity and is ready for most typical light- to medium-duty notebook tasks. 1-0 out of 5 stars Average Product but SHOCKINGLY poor support!
The keyboard is a bit flimsy and so is the display. Tech support is less than average with their knowledge level but the customer support is simply the most unprofessional I have ever come across! I don't think it is isolated since out of more than 15 people (including supervisors and case managers) I spoke with, about 5 at best, knew how to provide basic customer service!!
4-0 out of 5 stars A VERY GOOD LITTLE NOTEBOOK FOR THE PRICE
I bought this computer with the understanding that any computer I purchase will be old technology within one year.Purchasing this HP ZE5730US, I received a computer that had decent memory, the latest Windows operating system, DVD & CD-RW capabilities, and wireless technology capability.(...).How can you go wrong. After a year or two, I'll buy another <$1000 deal and get even more technology than the guy who bought the expensive version when I bought this one, and still I'll have spent less than him! This computer serves me well, I'm happy to not be tied to a desktop anymore! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Average laptop for a good price
I bought my laptop in August of 2004 and it is now March of 2006. I actually bought the R3000 but I hope this review can help others buying laptops (...). I have no idea if HP changed the computer structurally but HP did upgrade the hard drive memory and other smaller features. Buying a laptop was difficult and it is not a task I am looking forward to doing again. It is impossible to balance price and performance along with all the other features in the lower price range that determine weight and battery power. If a buyer wanted the higher end laptop, then there would be less compromise. But then the buyer would probably not be looking at a Presario. After about six months, my touchpad stopped working and my experience with customer service was hellish trying to convince them that the touchpad was in fact a hardware problem. I finally did send the laptop in after numerous hours berating the Indian taskforce. But I have never had a pleasant experience with laptop customer service when it is difficult to prove a hardware problem rather than a software problem. Also, after about a year and a half, my dvd burner stopped burning. I hope HP fixed the DVD setup because its placement is very vulnerable to wear and tear. It was not fun either convincing the service team that my burner did not burner. But, honestly, take the customer service consideration out of the picture because customer service SUCKS at all computer companies.Get the 3 year warranty if you plan on keeping this laptop for more than year. Seriously. Do not mess around. (...). The laptop is very heavy and buy the better battery because the lowerpriced battery can barely sustain the computer for an hour. In fact, if you plan on taking long plane trips and want to use the laptop, this is not the laptop for you although I believe some planes have power outlets now.Do not buy the windows office program. RIPOFF. Get the open source version or scam it from a friend. Basically, if you need perfection in a laptop, invest more money into your laptop. If you can tolerate a good heavy computer with flaws, this is not a bad purchase. But honestly, at this price range, mediocrity is what you will get. Don't expect miracles.

4-0 out of 5 stars For the guy who said this computer sucks
Maybe you're new to laptops, so here are a few facts.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good to buy , Ready for programmers
I have bought this computer 4 mounts ago . I am a computer engineer and as my work needs , I loaded a lot of programming tools like IBM Websphere , oracle 9i DB and extra games on it . By the help of 1GByte memory , enough hard drive and , thanks to AMD , Athlon 3200+ CPU , the computer successfully handle all the hard works . And it also goodat gaming .

At 15.67 by 10.94 by 1.67 inches and a comparatively hefty 9.3 pounds, HP's new Pavilion zd7020us Notebook PC may be too cumbersome for those who regularly carry their notebook on their daily journeys. 1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible design and quality control
Without doubt this is the worst computer I have ever purchased, both in terms of design and reliability.
5-0 out of 5 stars PC Enthusiast
bought this computer after buying my RS-310 about a year and a half ago. This computer is EXTREMELY fast and has many extra goodies like the capture card. This computer is very good and is recommended to new owners or people who just need a new computer! It is also very useful for Gaming purposes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Totally Awesome!!
I bought this laptop several months ago and have been using it every day. This is the best computer I have ever own. I have bought several brand new desktops and none of them even compare to this thing. It has a really fast processor, good memory size, and a great screen size. I always found with my other computers that I reanout of ports for all of my stuff, no problem for this thing it has more than adequate supply of usb ports, monitor out, etc. I really like this Laptop. There is only one thing that I could find wrong with it( and believe me you have to look for things because this is awesome) was it's battery life. It dies after an hour and a half. But it recharges in aproximately half that time but it's still awesome. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars computer overheats
great machine to work with, but i sent it back to hp 3 times for a replacement board, graphics card always blows out, don't know why as i have provided plenty of ventilation by keeping the machine space free of any objects near its vent.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Desktop Replacement
I have had this computer for the past month and use it every day - all day. It is outstanding in every respect: beautiful extra bright screen, fast, reliable, plenty of ports for USB and various memory cards, large hard drive storage, excellent keyboard, etc. It is heavy, so I don't recommend using it as a portable, but I keep mine at home on my desk. This replaced a large desktop and I am enjoying having the extra space on my desk. It does everything my desktop did, and more. It runs a little hot and you can hear the fans but this is not really bothersome. Highly recommended. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars good start for a project
This computer came equipped with a few decent parts and a long list of annoying features.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great machine for the price.
I bought this computer a couple of months ago and it has really worked well. I particularly like how quiet it is....compared to my last machine, this is virtually silent. The hard drive and ram are sufficient even for some gaming, although I use it mostly for running a business. Fast performance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent machine, quiet, no parallel port though
HP confirms, no parallel port on this machine.Of course, I knew that, having bought it already. But it's a well-specified machine and is a good deal at $600.Considering that the machine has 7 USB ports and 2 FireWire ports, the missing parallel port isn't a connectivity issue, only a cost issue, as you can easily buy a USB-parallel cable.(Amazon.com sells one for $9.99.)Some things that I like a lot about the machine are that it's very quiet and has very crisp, high-quality video output. ... Compaq's wide-ranging Presario series of desktop PCs targets almost every segment of the computer buyer market, from financially strapped students to high-power business executives. This remanufactured unit, the Presario SR1130NX, sits neatly in the middle of the lineup, delivering strong midlevel computing at a price that won't empty your pocketbook. Gamers and anyone who dabbles in 3-D graphics will want to upgrade the unit's 3-D video capabilities or look at a more upscale Compaq offering, but the unit should otherwise fit perfectly in virtually any computing environment. Of special note is the system's huge 160 GB hard disk, a rarity at this price point.
