Very good mid-range computer
This computer works very well for what it is.Not the fastest or most powerful computer that exists, but 64-bit dual core, 1gb ram, and a nicely sized hard drive are nothing to scoff at.

Good hardware package for price. A step up from bare-bones, this box has everything you need for most uses. it has decent expandability with included PCIE, but I found 300w power supply too weak to run my 7600 GT graphics card. So quiet and tiny!
I was so surprised to see the small box this CPU came in. I love the compact build of it, it's very fast and super quiet, I can't tell if it's on without looking at the light. The only thing I wish they could've given me another CD drive like I had on my old computer.But, I'm very happy with it so far, this is my 3rd HP since my first one back in 1996.

Multi-Media Madness
I wanted a machine that
good computer so far.
This is an awsome computer..bought this from a Circuit City and the guy said it was possibly the best computer for gaming as well as school work and other things... and for gaming capability, the guy said that a good ATI Radeon graphics card(Don't know the model type) would be excelent for this computer for gaming.
Dead-on arrival HP computer
I could never get this HP pc to boot even with the "assistance" of HP support. This assistance required over four hours of my time on the telephone. After the first two hours of this assistance HP sent me a recovery cd packet which took three days to arrive in the mail. It did not solve the boot problem. This required another two hours of my telephone time. HP support finally gave up and said it might be a defective hard drive. I also gave up and returned the pc as per your return policy instructions. So much for my experience with HP computers! ... Read more

God help you if you need technical support
I bought the big brother version of this unit and most of it worked except for burning CDs & DVDs.After hours of calls via India and several US location, my machine will not even recognize the drives.This is all after sending the CPU back to HP to fix and it still came back broken. They now want me to wipe 9 months of data and start new, and then send it again to HP.They will make no commitments as to how many times I will have to return it for repairs.They are just stalling for the warranty expiration.Totally unethical!

Save your money for ...
If you're considering this or any other HP Media Center, save your money. First, there are a number of bugs to consider, none of which HP has been able to help with. First among these problems is the fact that the computer tends to freeze up at random for about ten seconds at a time. This would be no more than a slight annoyance except that it can waste a lot of blank media whenever the machine freezes while burning a CD or DVD. Second, is the generally poor image quality of the TV feature. A better option is to buy a good Sony VAIO or other quality computer and then upgrade to a good-quality video card that includes a TV tuner and necessary software. Nor does the Micorosft Media Center operating system add much to the overall experience. Sometime this year (2006) or early next, Microsoft will release their next operating system, which (according to everything I've read) will be so radically different that the Media Center edition will begin to feel like one is using Windows 95. In general, I recommend looking elsewhere.

It's been great!
A great computer at a great price when I bought it.Since then I've done some odds and ends upgrading of the video card and added another gig of RAM in order to run my games more smoothly.Right out of the box it ran the Adobe CS2 suite like a charm.

I give the HP a1230n one-half notch above mediocre...
I bought the a1230n for about 875.00 (not incl. monitor) in Sept '05.I give it a hlaf notch above mediocre.Solid cabinet, separare DVD/CD drive bays, handy audio jacks in the front, 4 USB jacks.MD processor is suppose to be better for multi-media..hmmm.Replaced the chinsey keyboard/mouse included in the package.I grew up in HP territory, the once thriving giant HP comlex is now a ghost town.Almost all design/assebly is outsourced now, this unit assembled in China.Whould I buy it again knowing what I know now ...naah.

It's OK for the money
My friend bought this computer from BestBuy, a big electronics retailer. It had a good price for what it had and it came with a free monitor.
Good overall, but at this price expected more
HP has good reliable pcs which is saying a lot considering the amount of junk out there.Still with basic cpus selling under $400 I expect a lot more for the extra dough.The dvd drive can be testy, meaning it may or not work.I've had trouble w/ other drives and disk burning hardware is not as reliable as the old floppy drives.The speed seems fine and I didn't experience slow down on word processing.I like to edit video so the memory and processing have proved to be sufficient.It isn't a super computer but it does the job. ... Super Fast And Trouble Free
I've been using the m7360n for about two months now having upgraded from an older m470n model.Installation and setup was a breeze and all features function as advertised.This machine is super fast and the layout of connectors, card slots, etc. is well organized.Setting up the Media Center features was fast and easy and the picture and sound quality are great.I particularly like the removeable second hard drive (optional accessory) as I can transfer recordings to this drive and plug it into any other PC.The only negative I can think of (and this is a personal opinion) is the massive amount of games and other software that comes pre-loaded.However, a visit to Control Panel-Add Remove Programs quickly took care of this.I highly recommend this product to anyone considering a Media Center PC and the value for the money, reliability and tech support are far superior to Dell or Sony.

Since this is the only to right my review i bought my computer from bestbuy and it came with a bungle( nvidia geforce 7800 GT 256,Logitech G15 keyboard,Logitech mx518 mouse,and logitech speakers 5.1)and was cool for a while but i did love the keyboard and also had this computer for 10 months in planing to buy a new motherboard,new processer,and DDR2 1gb ram for windows vista and stuff but over the stuff i got it great and i know half about computers (still learning)so i give this computer a 4 star rateing. :)

Horrible System - Hardware & Component Faults Throughout
The HP a1250n is, without a doubt, the worst computer system I have ever experienced. I have used a wide variety of computers and I can honestly say that this HP is absolutely the most problematic.
Great Buy
I've had this computer for a week. Runs great and very silent. AMD athlon dual core is VERY good. It is a lot better than the newer Pent D processor because it is silent, fast, and DOES NOT heat up. If you have a Pent D, you know that it is loud. I don't even hear my computer when it's on that's how smooth it runs. Con about this computer is a decent graphic card. HP a1430n Crashed twice now
I bought this computer in May, it crashed 17 days later.Sent it in under warranty, got it back and it crashed one week later.I don't have any idea what is wrong but I have never had problems like this.It's very frustrating

I'm extremely happy with the Compaq SR1650NX
This system hasn't had a single glitch since I got it -- like Taylor, I spent some time removing unwanted software, and there's a ton of it.
Nice computer
I just bought this computer from our local Military exchange.I am overall pleased with it.I live overseas and was able to quickly connect to the internet with a local ISP in minutes.I tend to run several programs at once for photo editing and custom projects, and I love that I can switch between programs with no drag time at all.The large video card has enable us to finally play MOH games that our old system couldn't support.

Solid, quiet, space-saving, cool running
I held out buying a new computer for a while. I had last purchased an HP Pavilion and had good success but that was 7+ years ago (yes, I get my money's worth). My wife spotted this little guy and it was love at first sight.

I like the machine, but I don't like the win XP Media edition. I removed20 or 30 games from the hard drive. I created the CD Rom installation CD's and tested them by reinstalling the operating system. I had to reinsert several of the CD's two or three times before they would read correctly. I like the ability to buy just the PC, keyboard, and mouse. My monitor, printer, and speakers that I already had were fine for this system. ... Read more
