Slick Looking - Components are older technology - Keyboard sucks!
Picked one of these up the other day, mostly for the slick design and for the wireless keyboard with trackball type mouse controller. But that's all it has, is looks...
Nothing but problems
I've had around 10 computers, and this is the worst by far. Out of the box, networking didn't work until Customer Support applied some weird BIOS patch. The video card's gone out... TWICE. HP's customer support application got into such a broken state that it can't even be uninstalled. The eject button sticks -- I have to press *really* hard, in exactly the right spot. I really, really wish I had gotten something, anything else.

Requires setup patience, but will work great
After reading the reviews for this product, I was hesitant to buy it, but there wasn't any other products like it so I took a chance.

Poor customer service!
Computer is inadequate,and customer service is extremely poor!!!After spending hours (at least 3)and multiple calls,taking my computer apart with tech assistance over the phone, requesting a postage paid box to send computer back to be repaired, my issues have NOT been resolved.Warranty is still in place, and 2 nights ago, I was on hold for 2 hours in order speak to a supervisor and then they disconnected me.I won't buy an HP again...

A great PC
I got this as a christmas present in 2005.It is a great computer.Fast and very smooth.Even comes with a 256meg video card.One thing I would suggest is adding more RAM to it. 512 just is not enough for what I want to do with it though.So I plan on getting it up to 2 gigs of DDR ram soon :)It is a great computer. I suggest you get it.You get a lot of bang for your buck.

Another junk of a desktop
I bought the HP a1210n Pavilion last November 2005. I had researched the web, read great reviews at Circuit City's site, and figured I couldn't go wrong. WRONG! Here it is 9 months later and the thing won't boot up, and the recovery disks are useless. I only get to a blue screen called HP Invent. It goes no further. I wish HP WOULD Invent a good desktop. Does not work
I have had this item for one month. Despite many hours spent with customer service (most of them "on hold") it still does not work properly.Some of the customer service people try to help but several have been quite rude.Now I am shipping it back for service.They will not refund my money nor will they give me a new computer.

Compaq Presario SR1820NX Desktop PC
Seems to be an excellent desktop. Bought it for 2 of my sons. Has everything he wanted for web design, school use, downloading music, watching DVD's, gaming or just creating DVD's. Easy to use straight out of box. The AMD processor is fast & strong. I've been using a Dell for years and I think I'll buy myself one, next.

Returned it
After it loaded Windoze XP, it kept re-booting (about 10 times before I called teh Help Desk).They guided me thru a restore and re-load - very patient.Still a problem - kept re-booting indefinitely.HP recommended returning it which I did.Since I needed it right away I went to the local Circuit City store and bought an HP - no problems at all and $20 less for same equipment.Still waiting for my refund from Amazon. ... a simple home PC, not much more
I've had this PC for more than a month. And have been largely satisfied, with a few caveats. This is not a high-end machine, and I'd recommend considering it only if all you want from your PC is regular home use - browsing, some music etc.

Wow, it's been a-while since I've actually bothered to sit down and write a review. I mean, I've been reviewing a LOT of things in day to day life (that's just how I live my life), I just haven't found anything that stimulated me enough to want to tell my fans about it. The good news is I think I've got something here that I can review for you guys that will help me get-back into the swing of things, tell you valuable information about a product, not to mention give me the chance to have a crack at my Dad's brand new computer. Basically he has been very stingy with it since it arrived last week. I was told that since I "ruined" his last computer and caused it so many problems, I was not to be allowed access to this new one. Ever. But since I've always got my fans in mind, the review must go on. I've been patiently waiting for an oppourtunity to get my hands on this thing for a while now. Actually what I'm going to do is bring you one of my special new-style of reviews just for this product. Very good machine
I too was impressed with this machine. As the previous reviewer wrote it is not exactly set up for the novice but with patience and use of the literature provided set up was easy. The Media center is great. The key to reception is a good antenna or a cable connection. I do not have cable but the tuner in it is comparable to my regular TV set up. I do wish it came with the XP disc instead of the drive being preloaded and partitioned thus having to create recovery discs.

Great machine for the money.
For the experienced computer user this is a great machine.I can understand that it is not a tool for a novice but with a little study the programs are fairly easy to use.I had my m470n set up in less than an hour and had the media center humming in another hour.Everything works great and I'm genuinely impressed with what you get for the price.

An Expensive Paperweight
My wife and I bought one of these a few weeks back and it is by far the worst computer we have ever owned. Nothing works correctly. The quality of the TV signal varies wildly, e-mails are suddenly deleted for no apparent reason, the computer shut itself down if you tried to do more than one thing at once (ie, read email and listen to an MP3), the CD burner would claim CD-Rs were actually CD-ROMs and would refuse to write to it, it refuses to recognize devices plugged into USB ports and... well believe me I could go on and on but I seem to be limited to 1000 words. I will say that the warranty from HP has proven to be absolutely worthless. Our efforts to get either a working computer or (preferably!) our money back have proven to be useless. Our nearly $2,000 for this Hp system has bought us nothing but heartache, frustration and lost productivity. I urge you not to make the mistake we did. Do not buy this product. ... Read more

Wonderful for a mid-priced PC
Having replaced my 10 years old desktop, I can't help but marvel at the SR1630NX' performance.This desktop is so quiet that you have to listen hard to hear any sound coming from the computer.I've been using it for two weeks, and I've experienced no crashing so far.The processor is powerful enough to handle my every day activities, including playing Guild Wars.The hard drive is roomy enough for my computer needs, and the lightscribe enabled burner is a big plus.At the front of the computer, there are slots to hook up a firewire, two 2.0 usb's, and audio equipment.This is a very, very convenient feature, and something that I was looking for in choosing to buy a new computer.

I just got this machine a couple of days ago.So far I'm impressed with the speed (I upgraded from a Celeron 2.5 GHz machine running XP).The box itself looks nice on the front, with a glossy black plastic covering the various drive bays.

Very impressive and it's SO small
Love this HP Pavilion, was a MUCH better value for the money than the comparable Dell.My only two small complaints were AOL was loaded as default internet brouser and it took me about 20 minutes to figure out how to dump that irritaion.Also defaults to Norton as my anti virus and I still have not figured out how to dump that irritating pop up.Otherwise, it's great.

This is a terrible product
I was unfortunate enough to have purchased this item.I had to return the 1st unit I purchased after a couple of days because it was making a terrible noise.The 2nd unit's video card failed after 4 months.Because I was stupid enough to think that HP made good products, I didn't purchase an extended warranty.HP makes it as difficult as possible to get anything fixed under the standard warranty.The HP staff is very little help and close to rude in my opinion.You have to ship the unit to some place, but since I had something on the hard drive that was sensitive, I asked for the part so I could have someone competent fix it (I now believe that all of HP products and staff are worthless).They won't even ship the part so I have to go to great expense and time to have it fixed.I will never buy *anything* from HP again! ... I should have built one
The computer is fine for the money ...so 4 stars. It provides ~some~ upgradeability but I don't think the bare bones justify much more of your computer money than say a stick of 512mb memory and a cheap AGP video card.
Great computer but one serious flaw
I agree with most of the others here. This is a great box if you get rid of all the "extra" HP software you don't want or need. I removed over 1 gigabyte of "fluff". After doing that, adding another 512 Megs of ram, and tweaking XP, it runs quite fast. Next will be one of the new NVIDIA 6200 AGP cards that will be on the market next month. NVIDIA just announced this chip, and says it will be used in cards at "the $79 price point". If you want to add a 2nd hard drive, you will have to add a hard drive cage, as one is not supplied. This you can order from HP parts (800-227-8164) for $10.06 +shipping. The part # is 5069-7338.
Great Base System
I can't believe Gadgester is a top reviewer. All of that garbage about the 3300 not being a 64bit processor is wrong. Anybody who has followed the life cycle of the AMD64, knows that one problem AMD faced with the processors was the cost to produce them. By reducing the cache AMD was able to significantly lower production cost while not sacrificing much performance. Great features...all except reliability
I bought this desktop in February, received and set it up March 2006.It has great features like being able to insert media devices on the FRONT of the PC, Lite-Scribe, etc., however, it crashed - either motherboard or hard drive - just five months after I bought it.HP was helpful and will fix it under the one-year warranty, but it should not have fritzed just five months after purchase!!!!I'm always very careful with my PC's, virus protection, firewall, turn off at night, etc., and hadn't even learned how to use many of the features before it crashed.Very disappointed.I hope it lasts more than another five months when I get it back.In any case, I won't buy another HP.Thank goodness for my trusty old Gateway which I kept after the "new and improved" PC came in, which is what I'll use until the HP is "fixed." ... Good Computer For Me...
I purchased this computer almost a month ago when my Dell desktop and laptop started having some serious issues.Overall it is a great little PC.I only paid [...] for it after a [...] and I think it was an excellent deal.I like the small size the most because I have a small office.I use this computer for accessing the internet, storing music and photos, and some other pretty basic functions.So for me it works great and meets all my needs.

Buyer Beware
It's a great PC and I use it as a music server and PVR.I have 2 Slimdevices Squeezeboxes connected, and I installed the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-150 MCE l.p. and it works great.
Duped by description
Beware....Very good computer and excellent as far as a media computer goes.It has lots of stuff I never had before and it is lighting fast.This would make a good first computer or a very good computer if you have school age children.
