IBM ThinkPad T22
I bought a used one and I absolutely love it.Only have one problem.Can't find a user manual for it.There is a lot on it that I don't know how to use.I would like to know what software is compatible and can I download Excel and Power Point etc?Anyone knows of a way to get a user manual please e-mail me at az50schick@yahoo.com.Thanks for reading this.

great laptop
This remanufactured IMB ThinkPad was a great investment!I received a "looks new" computer for half the price of a new one.You cannot even tell that it is used.The computer speed is fast and it is compact and light.It is in excellent shape.The only downside is that the battery that should have a 4 hour charge only holds a charge for 1 hour.But another $55 for a new battery and I'm ready to go ~~and well worth the money.Still a bargin!!

One of the best laptops for road warriors
Although I did not buy one from amazon, I have personal experience working with over a hundred T22's. This was a popular model among many corporations during the past five years, and now is being replaced with the newer T43 which has the P3-M/Centrino chipset. So many of these you are seeing for sale now are being retired from corporate use. One nationwide chain had a contract with IBM which would amount to at least 14,000 T22 Thinkpads in just their local offices across the US. My opinion of this laptop is that they are dependable and extremely well-made. Their biggest advantage, though, is their size which makes them great for travel. They each weigh in at around 5.5 pounds but seem much more compact than that number would describe. That being said, there are a few things to watch for and take note of.

Blurry Blurry Blurry Blurry Motion
The IBM PC Camera is one of those cameras that gives web cameras and video conferencing a bad rap.It hardly qualifies as a "video" web cam because the video produced by this camera is similar to setting a camcorder to 1/8 second shutter speed, which produces very blurred motion.Unless you plan on staying very still--and I mean very still--, you're better of paying more money for a better camera.Even lip motion and quick facial expressions are blurred.
Don't EVER buy one of these.
This is possibly the worst "webcam" that has ever existed on this planet.For starters, unless you are using the camera in bright (and I mean solar-flare bright) light, you probably won't even get a recognizable image.Most of the time what you will see on your screen is a black and red mess moving at approximately 2 fps.Two frames every second is obviously way too slow for any kind of video, and the optics in this camera make it unsuitable even for still snapshots. Not worth the money...you could do better!
I purchased the program origionally without doing my homework. At the time it was an 'ok' camera, but I would never buy another one like this. The reason that I purchased it is due to the 'stitcher' program (for making 360' Quicktime video files)that was bundled with it. ~ At the same time "you get what you pay for". Most people want a high quality camera, but don't feel the $110 (or more) for that technology is worth the price. Even so...it would be nice if these 'low end' cameras would do a better job. ... This is a great computer!
I have a similar version its t-23 2647-EU9 its generall the same maching.I got mine of ebay for 400 and its great.Not really any heating problems.Dont be scared of the track point its alot easier than touch pads once u spend about thirty minutes with it. It doesnt inhibit typing at all.I had problems on other laptops b/c when i would set my wrist down on the palm rest i would touch the touch pad and it would click somewhere in my text and i wouldn't notice it and that was very annoying.Great battery life even with the LCD turned onto bright.If you get it without drivers ibm has an updater you can download.i like the wireless internet, had a few problems saying it "couldn't start" but i just disabled it and shut down the computer and let it sit awhile then turn it on and enable it and it would work great.It has good connectivity.The must is to use the windows wireless program it beats out ibm's program.has infrered for people with media cellphones.speakers point down from front of laptop, which projects into my lap and then into the computer where it makes it sound like music is comming out of the keyboard.But overall this is an awesome computer with an awesome keayboard!!!! i love it!!!! ... IBM not worth it
I have several PCs. The IBM R51 I bought is the worst. The machine crashed several times within 30 days. Finally, it was determined because of a hardware problem (not something you expected from a new IBM laptop). After it was fixed, it keeps corrupting window XP OS. Calling support and service was no help, their standard anwser is to poush the restore button.
Thinkpad - wonderful
I have used a IBM thinkpad T-20 for 3 years and it never crashed. Never had any hardware issue. This notebook is really amazing.
Things I like about my IBM ThinkPad T20
I love the "trackpoint" pointing device and, for a laptop, it's got the best arrangement of keys.I got a refurbished one years ago and it's worked perfectly ever since.It has all the things I need - USB port, Ethernet port, internal modem, DVD drive - and it's very light and sturdy.It even has a little keyboard light so you can use it in the dark - e.g. in a bedroom without disturbing someone else. ...
