24-Hour Shipping Promised but not Delivered

Nice Hidden Option
Like most normal DVD-ROM's this drive does a nice job of playing DVDs at 16x, nothing special there, good seek times, and IBM's high standard for quality projects.However, one other thing this drive does well is read DVD-RAMs at 3x, an uncommon characteristic for many drives.I searched high and low for a DVD-RAM drive with a high read rate, and in some cases any drive that would read DVD-RAM.This was one of the few that I found that was above 1x, most are 1x or 2x and cost an arm and a leg, mainly due to the fact that they are recorders as well. A superb organizer in budget range
I find the IBM WorkPad c3 smaller and lighter than the Palm III that one of my friend uses. Its contrast-variable backlighting really helps me to see the figures in variable light conditions such as when I am standing directly under a light in my office or walking in the alley which is not that well lit. An added advantage is lesser strain on my eyes because of its sharp screen. I guess the WorkPad c3 is limited to its 2 MB of non-expandable memory as the manufacturer could not design to fit a bigger memory in its slim design. How am I going to upgrade its memory to a larger capacity I do not know but I guess its one of the trade off that one has to bear in relation to the overall relatively low cost of this product. One particular feature that I find very handy is the synchronization ability of WorkPad directly with a my PC through the infrared transmitter this is a valuable feature that comes specially during my busy days letting me bypass its HotSync cradle connection.Read more

This is the perfect computer if you need something for work, school, or just to use at home. I enjoyed mine and I recommend it to anybody.

Sad & Un-happy
I was not happy with this. The unit was OK but I was not happy that the DVD player did not have the decoder included. So I couldn't play movies. The USB ports are not highspeed so the wireless network is slow and lacking. Whats next... By the time you add to this what you would need to make it sweet you can just buy a new one, software all included with full support and warranty. Either the price has too come down for this USED item or the software has to be fluffed up. There really is little incentive to buy this item. I learned the hard way. Be for-warned shopper. ... The Perfect Laptop
I've owned my T42 for about 8 months now. This thing is wonderful. I've dropped it more than once and carry it all over the place in my backpack (on my bike), and use it day in and day out. This thing works just as good as the day I got it. Pretty fast for a laptop, I have no complaints about the speed. The wireless abilities are great. I'd fully recomend this laptop to anyone who is smart enough to realize a little bit of extra money up front will save you a lot of money in the long run.

Avoid this cheap junk...
In all the years I have used laptops for work, I have never been motivated to actually buy my own personal laptop in addition -- until now. My company got me an IBM Thinkpad, and it's a piece of junk. It's so bad, I actually forked over $1800 of my own money to get a Dell. The Dell is lightyears beyond the IBM in every way. The IBM is less than a year old, and has already had the motherboard replaced under warranty. Everything about it screams "cheap", from the lousy keyboard, to the nearly non-functional touch pad (it constantly jumps around, causing you to lose just-typed text). I wouldn't buy one of these for $100. Remember, I warned you.

I have owned over 4 laptops now and the IBM thinkpad is by far the cheapest and most unreliable laptop.The computer has been unuseable every 4 months.First the battery. Then the power source.Then the harddrive.And now the motherboard, which by-the-way, has to be sent in to be replaced.It will take approximately 2 weeks to get all that back to me.I suggest a Mac or Toshiba.Their parts are not made in China, Mexico, and Malaysia like IBM-Lenovo's parts.I should have never taken the advice of PC magazine.THey do not rate on reliability. ... And the IBM ThinkPad T22 is, as usual, an impressive specimen that manages to be highly portable yet still provide much of the power of a desktop PC. It's built around a 900 MHz Pentium III processor and comes standard with 128 MB RAM (expandable to 512 MB), a 20 GB hard disk drive, and an 8x DVD drive. The 1,024 x 768 display measures 14.1 inches diagonally, and both networking and a modem are standard.
