Sony VAIO T250 vs T350
The T350 offers intelligent WAN, new memory configuration, and a cool redish color. But...if you don't want to log on to Cingular in the WAN offering choose the T250. While the keys are smaller than a normal keyboard, this 6'1" user finds them acceptable for fast typing. The 802.11g works great. And while I compare it to my HP at 2ghz the speed of the Sony seems just as fast. The touch-pad works well. The weight is fantastic. And the screen, while a bit small, is very very crisp. I am using 120dpi and large font size in IE. A little on the expensive side, but this little baby rocks.

Upgrades Nicely
Take your basic PCG-K23 Sony Vaio laptop computer and turn it over on its back. Remove the two OEM sticks of RAM and replace them with two 512mb pc2700 333mhz chips, and then replace the OEM 4200rpm HDD with a Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 80gb 7200rpm HDD and - Vola'! - instant hotrod computer for a decent price (and with a superb screen to boot)!
Bad Bad Bad product watch out
For all of you out there do not fall to this cheap product.
Defective Hard Drive
I purchased this computer in July, and on December 5th the hard drive broke. It will not mount and makes grinding and clattering noises.I have lost data. This is not a quality product. I am now returning it to Sony (event#E26545346).I thought Sony made quality products and I paid a premium for their notebook compared to other notebooks and look at what I get.I am very unhappy.I wonder if this is more than just an isolated incident.I will never buy a Sony product again and do everything I can to stop others from buying Sony's products.

So Close
I wouldn't hesitate giving this model a 5 star rating, were it not for its outrageously loud cooling fan. I swear, the thing is louder than my old E-Machines desktop (from '98!), making use of this computer an almost painful experience. The VAIO suffers from all the usual problems with Windows models - OS crashes, freezes, etc. - but these are not frequent. Damn, I love it's performance, features and appearance, but there's no reason to buy a computer ifusing it is as unpleasant as this.
Average laptop
I purchased this notebook around 2 years back. Overall the performance is good. As mentioned by other reviewer, the battery life is very poor. You can not do multitasking, the performance becomes slow. I don't like the screen as well. It doesn't have the wide, xbrite screen and you can not watch movies in group.
more than satisfactory, but has its problems.
i bought this machine because it was relatively cheap and i wanted something portable with a lot of processing power.I have never wanted for processing speed, and i can take the thing around places, so my basic needs are satisfied.

The worst laptop ever
Ok, first I think giving a single star to this one is a mistake. But i had no option as I had to choose some thing.
A Shining Star Under Extreme Use
I've had my K33 over a year, and am using it primarily for Audio/Video/Graphics Processing as an independent consultant. I subject this unit to 120-hour workweeks and expect it to do tasks that would choke a powerful desktop machine. It performs without flaw. In fact, I describe this machine as the single best-suited computer to my way of working that I have ever had - desktop or laptop! That includes all the big names and even some custom built stuff - and I was a die-hard ThinkPad devotee for years!
Aw ... She's Better Than That !!
We are Mac users and lovers. We HAD to invest in a PC for certain technical reasons, one of which was website development. We have had the K33 for over 1 year and have never had a problem. She responds as quickly as does our braodband service or whatever programme she is running.Without a doubt, Norton's Antivirus slows her down from time to time, mostly when there is a scan in progress whilst you are trying to use the system. We have never experienced any technical difficuliteis otherwise. The battery is short, but I have yet to find a laytop with a good battery pack and believe me I have had plenty of laptops over the last 10 years.Frankly, we think she is a beauty. We happen to have a camera that can use the memory stick device on the system. It is extremely convenient. The screen is crisp and clear. I am not sure what our complaints would be over this system, but having had a positive experience with the Sony Vaio, we would certianly recommend it. I will also mention that we use the VAIO in a work environment. Her duties are beyond normal home use. Thanks for taking the time to read our 2 cents worth !

Awesome machine
I bought this laptop about a year ago and it is great!Awesome graphics for a laptop!I'm not sure what others are doing to their machines, but I have had no trouble finding any drivers or anything of the sort. The screen is beautiful! The only set back of this laptop is the noise, but this can be reduced to almost nothing by adjusting the power controls. As far as the weight of the thing goes, unless you plan on standing and holding it out in front of you the weight isn't an issue, hence the term "laptop"At any rate, great machine, good graphics, AWESOME screen, and powerful.
Not strong enough? Too strong!
I have not seen an adequate review of this product yet, so I will try to write one: Since this thing uses 19.4 volts to run, it is a power hog. It blows the circuits on something like an airline seat plug-in. You can't find a 12v adapter for one, because it's too powerful and no one makes one. I have a C/D drive setup with a 20/60 GB capacity that is just senseless. Put the whole thing on one drive. The fan sounds like a runaway locomotive. Windows XP Home edition? Puhleez! Half the rest of the "pre-installed" software was trial editions that expired if you didn't buy them! It's heavy! It's huge. Good screen, great wireless performance but there are better choices!
VAIO PCG-K27 Review
I bought this model (Pentium 4, 512 MB Ram, 80 GB Hard Drive) this last year to repleace a previous notebook model that was stolen.I use it at home in place of a desktop model.Very happy with it.Only complant is the sound quality when playing CDs or DVDs.

College student
After using many different laptops, I decided to purchase this one because of 1. small size and portability 2. light weight 3. wireless LAN built in 4. nice specs (CD-RW/DVD + built in digital camera). THough costly, I've used this laptop over a year in all my classes and it has come very handy.
From a College Student...
I've previously owned a PC and a notebook(GRT series) from SONY prior to the purchase of this TR3AP1 notebook via sony.com right when it was first introduced.
Fabulous tiny notebook at a great price
Even though the TR series of sub-subnotebooks from Sony is now discontinued, it still sports modern-day mobile computing technologies as well as great styling -- arguably one of the best-looking laptops of all time. This model (TR3AP1, with the "P" meaning it comes with Windows Professional instead of Home) used to cost over $2300, but now it's selling for such a low price. Is it an outdated computing? No, because it has Centrino (Intel M processor, the mobile chipset, and the integrated 802.11b/g wi-fi), a great bright screen, and a builtin VGA camera.A couple other manufacturers in Asia (notably Asus and Samsang) have copycatted this design; why Sony never sued them is a mystery, maybe it's because in Asia nobody outside of Japan knows what "intellectual property" means anyway. But those knockoffs have terrible quality, unlike this genuine Sony. The only downside is the the small screen the TR has, which is only 10" measured diagonnaly. But this is a great little machine that can play DVDs and pull in wi-fi anywhere there's a hotspot.Get it while it's still in supply! It has high quality unlike some recent Sony products.BTW I laughed when reading another person's "I have great luck with Dell and Apple," cuz those two companies use Asian sweatshops and cheap parts and their computers break down all the time.Apple even got sued by their loyal customers in 2004 for selling lemon iBooks.

Sony Vaio Never More
I bought this notebook two years before. This is the time your hard drive will last. I know five other people that has had the same problem. If you are paying more for a Sony Vaio thinking that you are buying a better product, be cautious.
My Hard Drive died after 15 Months
Do not buy this sony laptop. It has a sleek design and stylish look but does not have a lot of features and also beware of your hard drive as it dies in little over an year.
Like others my disc died after 15 months...
I have the EXP model, which is the same as this model except with Windows XP.I bought it in April 2004, and it failed in July 2005. The hard disc crashed, the machine started up once or twice in SAFE recovery and then would not start, and it said that the "config" file was corrupt.I have automatic update on my firewall and virus and Windows so I am sure that it was not a virus.

totally disappointed with sony products
pros:
Sony FS550-
This is a great computer, but you will have trouble when converting8mm video Cassetes fromSony Camcorder without the I.Link 4 pin to 4 pin. I had to buy Pinaccle Software and Accessories to hook the 3 pin connector from the Video Camera via USB port to my Laptop. Check the battery life which was like 1.5 hours whith the low resolution mode on.
Sony FS550 Very Sexyyy!!!!
