why even read a review? i can only rave about my G4!!
after owning a powerbook for three years, and using many iMacs at work the G4 has been a revellation for speed and reliability.it never crashes and has only frozen on me a handful of times over the year.i can multi-task like crazy, opening 700 MB of images in photoshop and doing other projects while i wait for them to open.the time saved in allowing me to complete many tasks at once is incredible.i am no longer impatient when working, because of the numerous tasks the G4 can perform at once. I just received this computer today.Within minutes, I had it set up and running and surfing the web.Thus far, it is definetly a very quiet computer.Its got a lot of power to it and comes loaded with OS X with all the great multimedia apps like iTunes, iDVD, etc.They have all opened and worked quickly and flawlessly.Overall, I would have to say it is very very fast.The computer has also never frozen, slowed up, or had any problem completing the tasks i've given it thus far and shows no signs of doing so in the future.I highly recommend getting Apple Pro speakers with it, as they enhance the sound quality drastically (the sound quality of that singal built in speaker just will not due for me, the only con i have found so far).This is a great machine that I will be using every day and I believe that it is worth every penny spent on it.Apple has done it again! ... What a great combination. The speaker that's built in is good enough quality that you really don't need extra speakers unless you want the full stero effect. Getting your Mac in tandem with a monitor is the wise choice, since the AppleCare Protection Plan will extend your monitor's warranty to 3 years ONLY if you buy it at the same time you buy your CPU.

Wow, Simply.......Amazing
Wow, what is better than this; Mac OS X (built-in), the best operating system ever made (even better than windows XP), a great monitor (22 inches), with gorgeous resulution, and the protection of AppleCare, the best way to get help for your Mac. Works great
We have 3 of these that we use for our college newspaper.They work great because each one has zip drives in them and we don't have to worry about the format of the disk.We can just take the disk from computer to computer, which makes sharing and transferring graphics much easier. Bad Computers
Mac user for 6 years bought 2 dual 800 end of Sept. and within in a month both machines had processors replaced. Started to work on them again and the logic board went out.Apples respones to this was give me 2 more 800, NO THANK YOU!Aftera couple of weeks delay were not going to chance it and Apple says to bad. Guess the attorney is going to make some money.

I've had this baby for about 4 months now... what a delight. Adjacent to my G4 is a Dell 1.3ghz Pentium III. The clock speed means nada. I fire them up at the same time each morning and about a full minute after the Mac is busy opening applications for me, the Pentium is just starting to show the icons on the desktp.As chip architecture gets improved, you're going to see the Win-Tel crowd also saying that "clock speed doesn't matter" because newer Intel chips will be rated at 300mhz, but be faster than the 1.3gig P3 chips.Read more

Won me over .... again
I use a windows machine at my office but I've always had a Mac around at the house. It was time to buy a new machine and I thought it might be time to "go Windows" but then I saw the G4 at an Apple store. WOW. The easy of use of iMovie and iPhoto made me do a double take. You won't know how easy and powerful this machine is until you use it. The tools like iDVD, iPhoto, and iMovie are amazing. The kids all want Macs now (oldest son has a 1.2Ghz PC) so they too can do all the cool stuff. Pair this up with iTools....WOW. I look forward to coming home to use my Mac having used my windows XP machine all day. The best digital hub on the market
...The primary reason I purchased this computer is because I was never really happy with what I was able to do with my DV Camcorder. It shot pretty good video, but short of plugging it into my TV there was little I could do to share what I shot. I've had an iBook (2001 dual USB, 500mhz G3) for a year now, and have always been very impressed with its digital video editing capabilities (iMovie is awesome), but after editing the video, all I could really do was burn the video on a CD as a Quick Time movie. While the QT movies worked well and looked good on the computer, they really did not offer the quality look I was looking for at full screen, and required a computer with Quick Time for play back. The Power Mac G4 933 seemed like the perfect solution. With its DVD Superdrive (writes DVD, CD-R, and CD-RW, reads DVD and all CD media) and additional iDVD software it seemed like the perfect solution. I really have to say that thus far it has really lived up to what I expected. When I purchased my G4 it had a faulty Superdrive (would not read DVD's). After speaking with Apple's tech support, and taking it to my local Apple Retail store (in ten years, this was the first Apple computer I ever had to take in for servicing), I had it back in two days with a new Superdrive and it has worked perfectly. The quality of the video once converted to MPEG-2 (the standard used for commercial DVD players and movies) is beyond what I expected, and playback has been without a hitch on home DVD players. A word to the wise: the DVD's may not be recognized by old cheap DVD players (a cheap 4 year old GE DVD player would not recognize the disc). Over all, this is the answer to anyone's dream that never thought they would be able to edit quality video for play back on home DVD players on their computer. To hell with Microsoft, get a Mac

G4 Macs ROCK!
I find it very difficult to read the words of the PC "faithful" whojust don't get the big picture.PC's are a lame excuse for Power and Usability.Windows is an antiquated spinoff of MacOS 7.That's just on the software side.This G4 dual processor has plenty of speed and power.Add a Virtual PC package and it runs 95% of all Windows software (depending on the version of windows you select).On top of that, I have all my former PC documents and they save rather nicely on the Mac. Wake up, smell the obsolete processor on your PC.
I. Hate. P.C. Users. Who. Put. Down. Apple. Because. It. . Has. A. THEORETICALLY Lower MHz. There's more to a CPU than the clockspeed: I mean, for one, who needs a 4.4 GHz Wintel With 30 USB 2.0 ports? Plus, the PC's processor (oooooh, it's a pentium 4 (i didn't capitalize "pentium" because it hardly deserves to be considered a proper name))may theoretically be better than, say, a veteran such as the omnipotent G4. The p4 (what sounds better: p4 or G4, think about it) may be a bigger water tower (metaphors!) but your letting it come out through a bendy straw (more metaphors!) A G4 may be a smaller water tower, but it's comiknbg out through a 3-foot pipe. Am I the only ne who recalls where Firewire came from? APPLE! iLink a) steals a lower case "i" from iPod and iBook. It's just another example of Microsift, Dell, IBM, and all their Wintel honchos being too lazy to figure out their own stuff and grifting it off Apple. And that hoopla about Apple's graphic's? It might not be the hardware, just the fact that your Mac doesn't want to play an inferior Wintel game. If your thinking "well, PC's are still cheaper", well, your right. But hey, in today's world, you get what you pay for!

AN ACTUAL OWNER REVIEW HERE IGNORE THOSE PC LAMOS
It's amazing to me that after all these years the anti-Mac (read windows users) establishment continues to be brainwashed. There are a couple of one star reviews here from PC owners, not owners of this Mac system or ANY Mac system for that matter. I can tell you this: I have used Macs since day one, AND I have used Windows machines for years. The Mac was a better computer 18 years ago and it is today and will continue to be. One reviewer mentions the various firewire ports, USB 2.0, video card, hard drive, yadda yadda ports etc...on the PC that for some reason he thinks are better (hello? who coined the term firewire and MADE it mainstream, not Microsoft or Dell) -- ask that same person how seemless it all is, how it really is NOT plug and play and how completely horrifying WindowsXP is because most of your old software will not be compatible! Ask any Windows user how easy it is to troubleshoot their machine and they'll tell you to ask their PC support guy who charges $95/hr. There is a bit of a premium for a Mac, yes. But always remember that you are buying the ONLY fully integrated hardware+software system in the world that's easy for a layman and pure sophistication for the UNIX geek. PC Convert
I finally gave in and bought a PowerMac. I dumped my PC and WinXP. After using it for two months, I'm a total convert. I don't think I'll be using the PC ever again. This thing is incredible. Apple really does pay attention to detail; even the box the computer comes packaged in is a work of art. It comes bundled with a ton of software and so far I have been able to find everything I have needed. Office, Appleworks, Quicken, Toast. Dream Digital Audio/Video/Photo System!
I never seem to stop being amazed at the Apple user experience. I have this system, with the addition of another 512 Megs RAM and an external 40 Gig Firewire drive (scratch disk for video), as well as other peripherals. It is a sheer joy to use this machine. People used to PCs just need to get to a local Apple store and see what I'm talking about to understand. You can accomplish most things with a minimum of keystrokes. To import photos into the elegant iPhoto album, I connect the camera and press one button. To order prints, I can do it within the same program!To rip music from CDs, I press one button in iTunes, and using the same program synchronize over 2000 songs onto my iPod MP3 player just by plugging it in!!Making digital video movies is a cinch with iMovie/iDVD, and there is just something cool about putting your movie on a DVD disc to give to your family to view on a regular DVD player.Read more

An Unbeatable System!
I have had an iMac for three years and just now needed to replace it because I've started doing graphic and web design. Nothing comes close to the power and elegance of the Mac platform. It's easy to use, has a ton of power for graphics programs and is THE platform of choice for design professionals. I can't recommend this system highly enough for people who are doing graphic design, web design, video editing or multimedia development. The SuperDrive lets you burn your work onto CDs or DVDs to show clients. You can easily upgrade the graphics card if you do video rendering. Installing extra RAM (which is a must) is easy to do yourself by just opening the side panel and popping the RAM into the DIMM slots.Read more
