1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY IPOD OR CARE!!!
Do not buy one of these pieces of crap.In my first year I had two of them die on me.Since they were covered under the Apple Warranty apple replaced them after serval hours of me waiting at the Apple store. Before the end of my first year I bought the Apple care extended Warranty to cover the current ipod I had for another year, figuring it would die on me within the year, and it did, this time killing my computer's bios while it was at it.Another serval hours of waiting for help at the apple store, they said they couldn't replace it because it wasn't covered anymore.I check with Apple and for reasons that no one can explain to me, the apple care was "returned".This was not done at my request, nor was I ever notified of this so called return.I will never buy another apple product, I got better customer service from Dell when I was speaking with people that didn't speak english.I have spent way more time and money on this terrible piece of S*** than I ever thought I would.I recommend a Archos or Creative product instead.

1-0 out of 5 stars Tell Apple to go #$&% themselves
What a waste of money. For $300 you shouldn't HAVE to buy a protection plan for the 2nd year of a products life; unfortunately the poor quality of iPods makes it a necessity. BUT, the protection plan is riddled with clauses that exclude any number of reasonable issues.
5-0 out of 5 stars 3 iPods Replaced No Questions Asked
I've had my iPod replaced 3 times in the second year of coverage--that's $1200 worth of merchandise--and once was my fault. Granted, the iPod shouldn't breakdown that many times in 2 years, but you have to face reality here: an iPod is a little computer with a spinning hard drive being bandied about like it's a cassette tape (assuming you don't have a mini iPod with a Flash drive.) The beauty also is Apple sent me a box paid all shipping both ways and the turnaround was always about a week, including shipping. The $59 is well worth it. Imagine treating your laptop like you do your iPod--an iPod is not a Walkman. And of course they're not going to replace it when you bring it in with a cracked display window. How on Earth is that their fault? That's crazy. That's like bringing your car in for warranty repair for a broken windshield and saying "hey, come on man, I kept it in the drive way." ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Apple Care Protection Plan for ibook-3 year plan
I did not receive this item in more than 2 weeks, and that was only after I contacted the company, Small Dog Electronics.By the time it finally arrived, the 1 yr. warranty on this ibook was expired. That led to us not being able to install this extended warranty. We called Apple and we were told that if we can provide proof that we purchased this plan before the expiration date, they would honor the purchase and install it from their end. When all of that was done, we would receive an email.Today is August 1, the purchase was made on June 13, and we still don't have any confirmation. All of this aggravation and I got to spend $250 to "enjoy" it.I don't know that I will ever purchase anything that is being shipped by Small Dog Electonics again!

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for anyone with a laptop
I don't care what you buy - Mac or PC, but when it comes to a laptop, rule #1 is get the extended warranty.A desktop PC doesn't matter as much since you open up, take it out of the box and it just sits there.A laptop on the other hand, you take it out and then move it around all the time.It can wear out the system that much faster. If you're on the fence if you need the extended warranty for the Apple computer - I'd highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have...especially for Apple newbies.
As a former professional tech support rep + current technology buff, I have mixed feelings about AppleCare (AC). Despite such sentiments, AppleCare is a MUST PURCHASE on all Apple systems. Note: it is not renewable and it must be purchased before factory warranty expires.

1-0 out of 5 stars what a disappointment
My 23" apple display died two weeks ago.It is still here, waiting for apple to "get it together".I have never experienced such a complete lack of competence and pathetically slow action plan in my life.Nothing about this has been easy.Even the hold times on the phone are over 20 minutes. There is no email support either.
1-0 out of 5 stars Worst support plan I've ever seen
This is what I'd imagine is the number 1 reason I could never suggest Apple computers for a small business.I bought a 2500 dollar machine from them, and it needs a logic board replacement (phone support was good, admittidly) - then the shocker, the guy on the phone tells me it will be up to 7-10 days to get my laptop back..7-10 days?? maybe for a casual user in days of yore when computers were more of a novelty..I use my laptop every day, mutliple times a day for nearly every aspect of my life - scheduling, contacts, work, play, everything! - anyhow, so I give in and send my baby in, nice service by DHL with their shipping box, and I'm also impressed they paid for next day air.
1-0 out of 5 stars LOOPHOLE MANIA-The Jodie Rosello Story
My situation is almost exactly like the above poster Torsten Reichert, although I never dropped my computer. Instead, it had a small dent in it presumably from carrying it in my backpack (which had a foam lining) everyday to and from school (isn't that what laptops are for???). Then the hardrive failed and they blamed it on that dent, saying I must have dropped it. Total crap. So, the tiny nothing of a dent voided my entire policy. They also said that the latch breaking was evidence of a drop, um, no the latch just sucks.....esp. after daily use opening and shutting it all day everyday for classes and transport. Also, the screen had been acting funny for awhile, I just could never get it fixed b/c I needed my computer everyday and couldn't afford to be without it. Oh, and they wouldn't fix that either b/c I must have dropped it. SUCH A SCAM. Then when I asked to talk to a superior, or the person who made the decision, they refused, saying they don't talk to people. Yet, they blamed everything on those people who made the decision. I was so excited about my apple when I got it, and I got an ipod too, but I hate apple now. They are a messed up company. They fake like they "care" about the customers but they don't at all. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Does "Apple Care"? No, it's a contradiction in terms.
I do love my I-mac Intel, but "Apple Care" is a contradiction in terms. I bought the extended 3 year Apple Care, which has not come in to play yet, as I am under 90 days from purchase. I am an Apple neophyte (many years with Windows, new to Apple), and I tell "Help" that when I call. Bottom line, the first level of Apple help personel seem to know less about the Apple than I do. Without a doubt, the first level of Apple Care specialists are the worst "help desk" I have ever dealt with in decades of PC usage. They simply know too little to help you with anything but a simple problem. Shame on you, Apple! I have spent many quality hours on the phone with Apple Help (at least 12 hours in under three months), and only ONCE has a first level person actually helped me solve the problem I called with.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Must for First Time Apple Owners
I buy Apples because I prefer spending my energy doing my computer thing rather than spending it trying to outsmart the internal workings of a plastic box. On those rare occassions when an Apple malfunctions or does something "outside the box" one phone call to the 800 number has generally resolved it. The time it didn't, I was sent a new DVD burner and over-the phone instructions even I couldn't mess up. AppleCare allows one to call that 800 number for three years. Besides the technical support of the internals widgets the support desk also helped me with my beginner "how to get out of this mess" problems. Well worth the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS!!
My parents bought me an iBook for high school graduation a couple years ago.Thank God they bought Apple Care to go with it.My generation of iBook seemed to be plagued with issues.I took it in to the Apple Store and had it repaired several times (for free because of Apple Care). These repairs alone would have cost me several hundred dollars.A couple months ago, I took it in because it was still having problems. They proceeded to tell me that because they had repaired it too many times, they were going to replace it...just like that.I got a brand new, better (G4 instead of G3) iBook for free because of Apple Care.It may seem expensive at first but it can save you some serious money in the long run. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars worth its weight in Wozinaks!
The only way you can even get an AppleCare warranty for a display is when either the display is part of the Mac (such as iMac and eMac), or when the display and Mac are purchased at the same time. Apple is the only company I know of that offers a 3 year protection plan for monitors! Even the flat panel displays! That alone is worth the warranty.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A tiny little bit expensive ...
Then again though, the cost to fix a Mac mini without it is astronomical.I GUARENTEE that ANY repair you need will wind up costing significantly more.
