4-0 out of 5 stars Great item with Great AC adapter
I love this laptop. Although I've sold a lot of Sony laptop, this one is the first sony I bought for myself.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome laptop!
This is the best thing that SONY has ever put out for me because this laptop is light weighing 4.1 pounds and have a solid desktop performance and solid battery life. When you set your battery Adjust Power Properties to the Ultimate Battery Life with "stamina" mode switched on instead of "speed", you can get over 4 hrs of computing time with full charged battery and with wireless lan and bluetooth on. This laptop can play any of today's video games, runs dvds smoothly, and that's why I LOVE IT!!!!
5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed
I am a long time follower of VAIO models but when my last one became too heavy to be carrying around, I decided I had to switch to a smaller, lighter one. I shopped around and this model combined the best of everything I was looking for; small size and low weight but real power with its processor, memory and hard disk, not to mention the graphics capabilities that I need in a Laptop due to my work. I have had it for a month and I feel it definitely lives up to what I thought it would be. Possibly my only minor thing would be that I would have preffered a normal sized Memory Stick reader, it only accepts Memory Stick Duo, albeit it is something that is easily solved with a normal-sized sleeve.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Media PC
I did a lot of research before I purchased this unit.I wanted a Media PC that would fit in my stereo rack that would actually look like my other components. My final two choices were this sony and the HP.I chose the Sony because it has HDMI (I like having the sound transfered over Digital) output, which none of the other Media PCs have out there and the processor was a dual core, which means it's more up to date than other units I looked at.

Extremely easy to use.Price on Amazon was terrific vs. Circuit City Offering.Like the way you can view immediately in the DVD player.Picture quality in sunny conditions is not good and grainy digitial picture taking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Coolest and smallest DVD camcorder in the market!
I'd like to share the reasons why I bought this camera and strongly recommend it:
2-0 out of 5 stars I dont get it
If you are looking for a still shot digital camera ok.. but why buy this monster for that? I have a T1 that does the trick there and gives 5MP.

5-0 out of 5 stars Most People Should Learn to Use This Before Reviewing
This is a very technical piece of electronics, yet you see reviews from people who have no idea how to use the basic functions,(zoom (you can select/deselect options in zoom mode), wireless options, mouse sensitivity, standby mode (why do you want to turn the unit completely off in the middle of the day?)) giving negative reviews because of their own stupidity. This unit does all it is advertised to do, plus some. If you are willing to spend some time learning to use the features it has, it is a very entertaining and serious tool. I just loaded ritepen (handwriting recognition software) on this unit, and it works perfectly. Ignore the negative keyboard reviews because there is no need to use it when this software is installed.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Shipping from AMAZON
I ordered this on Augus16 from AMAZON on the17th it went to shipping status where I could not cancel the order - over the next week AMAZON said it was in stock - out of stock then back in stock. When I tried calling AMAZON to have the order cancelled I was infromed (by customer service supervisors) that it was absolutely impossible to cancel the order even though it was not in stock and that it would ship "soon". Finally I had to pull my credit card info from AMAZON so I could order it from another seller. I kid you not AMAZON customer service supervisoras (three different ones) told me they had NO WAY to call their shipping Dept to cancel the order and could only send EMAIL. The order still isn't canceled even though I removed my credit card info.
3-0 out of 5 stars Serious tool or novelty toy?
I have had the UX180P for about a month now.My goal was to have something ultra-portable to take into court with me to keep client information with me.In practice however, it is easier said than done.First of all, it took me a good while of tweaking to get fonts and resolution that made the screen actually readable for more than a few minutes without eye fatigue. The trade off was that some windows did not entirely fit the screen which made it difficult to operate some radio buttons. In addition, it is hit or miss on some applications and web sites. Some web sites are received with tiny fonts regardless of the settings on the computer. The built in zoom function helps but is limited by the fact that you can't actually take any actions while in zoom mode. You have to get out of the zoom mode to click on anything or do anything else.It could use a more functional zoom function. Also, I have not figured out how to adjust the sensitivity on the built in pointing device.I find that the slightest touch causes it to sense a click.I find myself opening programs and taking other unwanted actions.Battery life with the standard battery also limits its functionality as a portable work tool. The $350 for the extended battery is a ridiculous price. COME ON Sony! Also, it takes forever and a day to completely boot up.Switching between WLAN and WAN is not a smooth as advertised.I have to make several attempts before it finally actually switches to WAN. Advertising claims the computer to be Windows Vista ready. However, with minimal additional programs installed (a little over 1 GB at most), it does not have enough hard drive space for Windows Vista as per the Vista web site and compatability checker. It could use more hard drive and more RAM (or at least the ability to add additional RAM and not be limited to 512mb of RAM).It is next to impossible to efficiently type any long document with the built in keyboard. An external keyboard is a must for any extended and efficient typing. In the end, I find myself using it mainly for entertaining myself on the internet between court hearings and on the road (someone else drivig of course) by using the Cingular WAN connection. While I remain dedicated to Sony products, as usual, I am an early adopter that is slightly less than satisfied with what I got for the money. Then again, I still remember paying $1,000 for a Sony DSS satellite receiver when they first came out.If you have money to spend, are not expecting a serious portable work tool, and like to be the first kid on the block with the newest toy out there, buy it.Otherwise, wait for some fine tuning, more memory, and lower prices on the computer and accessories or buy a more useful tablet PC. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Missing driver for the DVD Rom on a new Vaio VGN-FE670G
I purchased this Sony vaio VGN-FE670G from Office Depot about 1 month ago. I was surprised that from day 1, the DVD / Cd player does not work, it makes spinning sound but nothing comes out of it.After lots of back and forth with Sony technical support, they send out a technician to my office and after a few hours, told me that the driver is missing! They do not know the reason. But since the DVD / CD drive does not have a driver, they cannot install it becuase to install it YOU NEED A WORKING DVD / CD DRIVE!!!They have also downloaded via internet the driver and tried to install it and still does not work. Therefore, they are sending me a set of "reformat" disks and I should reformt my computer so back up all my stuff and wait for the disks.

1-0 out of 5 stars careful with electric shock
This is a nice machine except for the fact that when it is plugged it gives an electric shock to the user. Please search your favorite engine with "sony vaio sz electrick shock" and you will see that this is a common event. In the next month or so I will try to see if this machine can be returned to Sony and/or file a complaint with my state's attorney general. This is completely unnaceptable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fast and small but Sony is retarded.
I bougt a Sony VAIO SZ220. This computer is blazing fast, and runs wonderful. On the other hand, the keyboard is definately done wrong. The keys seem a bit flemsy and the space bar has to be pressed in the middle (I popped off the space bar and put a slice of a pencil eraser on the button.. fixed the problem!). I have one pixel so far that has gone out and I've had it for a month. the screen is pretty flemsy also, and doesn't have a locking mechanism. The loose battery is extremely annoying but no big problem.. I also learned that the metal part your hands rest on while typing seems to have some sort of current running through it because my guitar makes funny sounds when I touch them at the same time. The little docking spot on the bottom won't stay closed..The laptop emits alot of heat..
4-0 out of 5 stars powerful ultraportable, poor battery life
This is my first VAIO and it definitely is great as i have heard.
