Could be Sams Club, could be Sony, Not sure.
Well this being the 3rd yes THIRD notebook i've gotten from Sam's Club really has me wondering about the quality of there products. First off i got a Qosmio, which i really didn have a problem with until i found someone elses documents on it and found out it wasnt suppose to be sold. So back it went, i had wanted another toshiba because it was super nice but they wouldnt send it from one club to another, so much for that. So i went back to Sam's and picked up a Compaq which turned out to be crap, the screen flickered badly and the burner was only burning at 2X speed tops. So now to the Sony Vaio. Well after paying a hefty 1,149 bucks for it with smaller specs than some of the cheaper models i thought well great its a Sony what can go wrong? Plenty. Here's just a list of a pro and cons about the whole computer over all, and i do believe its a Sam's thing. Not sony.

Nothing but great!
I have had this monitor for almost a year (I did not buy it here).I paid too much for it, but it has proven to be a great monitor - especially using the DVI connector.The VGA modes using the 25pin VGA cable aren't as clear, but I have no real complaints.No dead pixels or problems with the unit so far...
Disapointed
I bought this monitor in April 2004.It broke December 19.It started going to sleep in November and then on December it went permanetly black.The paper work needed by Sony inorder to send a replacement (refurbished) monitor was faxed and recieved by Soney that day.After many calls to Sony and promises of prompt replacement still nothing almost a mounth later.With warrenty service like this you should count on keeping a back up monitor ifyou buy a Sony.At the time we were in the market for a wide screen plasma TV.We got one but it was a Pioneer not the Sony we were looking at.

NOT A GOOD DVD/CD REWRITABLE DRIVE
I PURCHASED THIS UNIT IN JANUARY 2005.BY JUNE 2006 (just 6 months after the warranty EXPIRED) IT WOULD NOT READ DVDs, called SONY Technical Support, they just wasted my time.I just changed it out with a NEC ND-3550A.

WORST DRIVE. DONT BUT SONY PRODUCTS
I had enough nightmare with this Sony.After reading all the previous reviews on this product, I realized that I made a $100.00 mistake.All bad reviews are 100% correct. I had similar problems and sony tech support WILL NOT try to help you with it.They will make you go through all kinds of useless exercises and finally they will say your drive is ok and they cannot give you an RMA without asking for it.The drive is useless.IT WILL STOP READING IT AFTER 3-6 MONTHS THE SAME DISKS THAT YOU BURNT.Sony has this drive check program that will always say that your drive is working fine.DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT and LOOK OUT FOR SOME BETTER ONES BEFORE YOU BUY THIS ONE.I AM VERY VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS.GOOD LUCK.

Good drive while it lasted
I bought this drive about 5 months ago. Just this week it stop recognizing original CDs and CD-rs. When I try to burn a CDr in Nero, Nero spits it out and says insert a blank CD. Tried every different brand, updated the firmware, and finally called Sony to RMA the drive. I spent over 2 hours on the phones with techs who have gone over every single thing I've already done before giving me an RMA number. My first camcorder and I love it
Okay, so I don't have a lot of prior experiance for comparison but this camera was easy to use right out of the box and the more I learn how to use it the better it gets. Some people have faulted its small size but I love the fact that I can slip it in my pocket. It takes good quality video and the stills have been okay. As long as you don't blow them up too much the stills are fine, as good as I've seen on a lot of other 3MP cams.

What a great little camera
I have had this camera for about 2 months now and really have had no problems with it. I love the size. It is small enough to fit in my jacket pocket while skiing. Takes awesome pictures movies, even during extremely bright conditions while skiing. I have used this camera indoors as well and find it to do a great job. I love being able to film in widescreen mode and play movies back on the widescreen tv. The pictures are extremely clear. My only problem is with the whole docking station / charging the battery issue. I would suggest buying an extra battery charger / ac cable or a travel charger so as not to have to unhook all of your cables from your computer every time you travel. Overall, I am very happy witht his camera and would definately buy another one if the need arose.

A bit pricey, but a great camera overall.
The main reasons I purchased this camera were its size and its resolution.The camera is small enough to fit in my coat pocket, which means that I have it with me when I need it, and its 3MP resolution means that I can leave my digital camera at home.In fact, this camera has an F1.8 lens, which is as fast as you'll find on most full-size cameras, so it takes decent pictures indoors even without using the flash.

runs much faster than others with more power
ive owned mine for over a year now, and i have owned other laptops in the meantime as well.this baby runs much faster than other budget-branded (rhymes with 'smell') machines with faster processors and twice the memory.also, i often get 6 or 8 hours out of a single charge on my battery, when the others ive mentioned were getting 2.although all of my other computers have over a gig of ram, this one has gotten by with only 512mb.
