Sony support is awesome!
I have had my Sony for over a year now and I love it.It's very user friendly.My Sony crashed a year ago today.I lost everything on the computer and quickly took my computer in to Circuit City as that's where I bought it and they told me that the harddrive had crashed.Then I called Sony support to see what my options were as it was still under warranty.They walked me though steps to try to fix the computer, which didn't work and then decided that I needed to reformat my harddrive and overnighted me the disks to get that taken care of.I received the disks the very next morning and of course, that didn't work either so I called them again, wierd thing is I got the exact same person I spoke with the day before!He remembered me and said he would send a tech out ASAP to look at my PC and replace what was needed.Tech dude came out and decided I needed to have my motherboard replaced as well as my hardrive, came back a couple of days later and the computer worked!I was so happy, then it crashed again about 5 min later.I again called Sony, and again, I got the exact same guy I originally spoke with!Told him what happened and he then said that my next option was to send it in, of course, like everyone else I was worried about cost, he told me not to worry about it that they were going to overnight me a empty box so that it could overnighted back to them, at no cost to me!It took them a week to take care of everything with my PC and overnight it back to me but I have had no problems since.Circuit City thinks, as I do too, that the computer was hacked into (I already knew that before it crashed) and it just killed everything in there, everything inside my computer was replaced except my disk drives.I have had no problems since so would I recommend a Sony to other people?Absolutely! Great customer service, great support, very speedy and I have had no problems at all since the crash/replacements.

So Far So Good
Purchased 1 month ago as a floor model.Saved $200 over lowest price on internet. I'm a photographer and nothing that I run seems to bother it. It's very stabile, even though I don't have much expierence with XP/MCE. This is my first Sony, usually buying Dell or Compaq in the past.The minute it causes problems, you will be the first to know. Buy it. The features are incredible and it currently seems to be crash proof.

DO NOT BUY!!!
Since purchasing this laptop I have always experienced the following problems:
Hot (literally) Laptop
I've had this for about four or five monts. Let's start with the pros...
No real complaints - others should stop bellyaching
I have had the Vaio 460 for a month now, and I have no complaints.The issue of heat is not very different from many other laptops, and it should't be a problem for most normal users.The complaint that there are no home, end, pg up and pg down keys is just nonsense -they are there and require the Fn key as on most laptops.The display is wonderful, the machine is very fast and the construction detailing is excellent.Overall, the best machine/weight/power combo I have ever seen.Those complaining must have unrealistic expectations - it ain't the talking computer tablet on Star Trek but it is great! ... Not all that exciting....and not too terribly robust.
It's a PC after all.Anyway, a bit on the slow side, but used it from time to time to do things that were not supported via Mac.
VAIO VGN FS760
Great screen and decent keyboard. The battery life is pretty good for me, I've gotten 3 hours out of it if wlan is off and I'm only running Word or Excell. What keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the software bundle (no nero burning rom, and roxio sucks) and the graphics card. Dedicated or not, 128 or not, virtually no ATI products, including tv tuners work with this machine. I'm not sure if this is ATI's fault or Nvida's but I'm still stuck with my TV Wonder USB 2 and I can't get it to work.

Good Laptop (last you a few years at least)
The Sony FS760 is a solid laptop that also has a dedicated video card which is why I bought it. It may only be a Geforce Go 6400 but at least it's something. The machine is plenty powerful w/ a 1.86 Ghz Pentium M (Centrino) processor. The 512 MB of ram may be upgraded in the future but the dedicated video and strong processor keep me from doing it in such a hurry. I love this computer except for the fact I am a moron and dropped it. It's what I'm using right now. The top metal latch is loose but it's not broken. Valuewise its a little steep but I would never consider getting anything less than a Turion or Centrino in a laptop. I feel it was a good purchase but an expensive one that will pay off in time as I go to school and enjoy it in my free time.

Here's another Sony innovation which has been given the short end of the advertising stick!The Sony Vaio VGC-VA10G is a fast, quiet and easy machine to set up.While I have only had it for a day, it has been so far a joy.

Best screen I have seen on any computer.Pictures and DVDs are as good as it gets.On the internet I have used both the wireless(I connected to my neighbors wireless internet for free for this test) and direct and both worked very good and were easy to connect.It looks great in the den, I leave it on 24/7.We had a party last night and I took over 100 digital pictures, as I took the pictures I would copy them to the VA10G.It was easy to take the SD card from the camera and inset into the slot on the front of the VA10G.After loading the pictures onto the hard disk I used the XP picture viewer software to run a slideshow.We had a great party and the beautiful pictures on the VA10G were the hit of the party.

DVI output
Unfortunately, the port replicator was purchased for its DVI output, yet the port replicator does not work.When returned to Sony, they advised the current chipset in the Sony model does not support DVI.I bought the Sony specifically for the availability of the DVI output on the port replicator

Beware...
I bought a Sony VAIO laptop for �1,350 in 2003 having chosen the machine mainly for its large, high-resolution screen (16inch, 1600 x 1200) and in the belief that Sony laptops were some of the most reliable on the market. However, when the computer was just over 14 months old (not quite three months out of warranty), the keyboard failed completely, and I had to purchase an external USB keyboard to be able to continue using it. I wrote to Sony, arguing that such a major fault was unacceptable, and asked them to repair the product at their own expense. Their response was to offer me a derisory 10% discount on the cost of repairs.

I also bought this one (for my lovely wife) with $250 rebate during the Thanksgiving season.The display is crystal clear which is unbelievable.No complains so far after using it for 2 weeks.One recommendation, the port replicatior is a good buy with DVI output.I got that to hook up to my Dell 2005FP monitor with digital signal.My wife is so impressed and love this tiny laptop. ... Very crisp image quality.
Very crisp image quality. Kind of expensive but it is worth it.

Cheap but very poor quality
This monitor, well, it sucks. It was a waste of the $600 I spent. The biggest problem is that it's very blurry above 1600x1200 making those modes almost useless (on XP). Attached to my PowerBook it can't handle rates greater than 60Hz above 1600x1200 and it so blurry even at lower resolutions it's unusable. Great Monitor!
I was hesitant getting this monitor because although I knew I wanted a 21" screen, I was afraid it would be too massive to fit on my desk (a corner unit).I was also torn between this and the comparable aperture-grill NEC FE2111 which appears to be used by a large number of top gaming PC manufacturers (Alienware, Falcon, etc.).Read more

I just got this nice Sony monitor... The Old Swictharoo
The A400 is a beautiful monitor and so is the CPD-G420S, which I will explain shortly. I compared them to many others from NEC, Viewsonic, and Samsung etc. and found them to be the best at their price point. Sony display's are generally top-of-the-line. One important tidbit, however: the Sony A400 is almost identical to the Sony CPD-G420S. In fact, the CPD-G420S is slightly better in terms of refresh rate and some other specs. Check the Sony website and compare the specs for yourself. I called Sony after doing this and the sales rep confirmed what I saw on the website. The only difference between the two is the outer casing and the CPD-G420S has slightly better tech specs.But, the last time I checked, the CPD-G420S is cheaper ... at retail! The A400 is for the consumer market whereas the CPD-G420S is for the corporate market, who have sophisticated purchasing agents that are smart enough not to pay the extra [money]. Pricing on these models seems to vary by retailer and when you buy, so my advice is look around for each model and buy the cheaper one. I ended up buying the CPD-G420S and am very happy with it.

Sony Desk Top-Vaio Model VCG-V620G Review
Outstanding computer! Technically very easy to set up. Out of the box and operating "wireless" within 20 minutes. Great screen for computing, TV and DVD-CD uses. The 20 inch screen is well worth the extra dollars. A "slight" inconvenience, discovered after one month of use, that being two of the connection ports (cable & dial up phone) are difficult to see and access without "carefully" turning the (CPU/monitor)on it's face. Don't let the price get in the way of this fast, great to work with and look at computer (CPU/Monitor/DVD-CD Player/TV all in one.
