4-0 out of 5 stars Kosmik Qosmio Experiences
The Qosmio is very well constructed, sturdy, heavy, very heavy, but should stand up well to constant use as a desktop replacement.
2-0 out of 5 stars No perfect in any shape or form, but still good for what it says it does...
I had a lot of mixed reactions about this laptop. Most of the features were like... "oh it has this" shortly followed by "but wait, why?"You'll understand what I mean later on.

Infused with Toshiba's most advanced technologies, the Portege M405-S8003 easily converts from a compact, lightweight notebook into a highly capable and versatile Tablet PC. The M405's 12-inch screen can be twisted 180 degrees and folded flat against the keyboard for full tablet mode, enabling you to take notes and write emails without using your keyboard and browse the Web with a digital-ink-enabled pen. On-demand productivity features include an integrated swappable dual-layer DVD optical drive and one-click docking. The shock protection system provides this notebook with a higher impact protection (via advanced rubber padding) around key hardware components. It also features Toshiba's EasyGuard security feature, which requires BIOS passwords in addition to user passwords to boot up the system.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I'm extremly pleased with this Tablet PC.
Okay, so if you are like me you want to hear from other buyers and see about the reviews for the products I plan on purchasing. 1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality manufacture, parts are breaking, risk of short-circuit
While the underlying principle of having a tablet PC is a nice idea, Toshiba quality appears to have taken a nosedive. If you buy this computer, you may risk the problems I have had, such as a latch with small plastic pieces that broke with normal use within a month, and more importantly, an AC adaptor wire whose insulation behind the computer-side plug has worn away after about four months of use, exposing wires into the air.It seems I am at risk of having a short-circuit or electrocution as a result of this manufacturing defect.I called support and was first lied to, told that they would cover the adaptor and ship me another.I waited a couple of weeks and called back today, asking where itwas.I was told that they had never said they would ship an adaptor (completely untrue, wish I had recorded the first conversation with "support") and that I had been informed it was not covered by warranty (also completely untrue). The woman put me on hold to speak with another representative, but so far, to no avail. The next level of customer rep wouldn't help me either. I offer this as a cautionary example of what you may expect of both manufacturing quality and support quality. This is a hazardous situation I have now, and given the recent Dell battery recall.I wouldn't recommend this or other Toshiba notebooks, as the defect appears to include their adaptors as well. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great laptop with minor deficiencies.Love it!!
This is a fabulous lapotp and I'm honestly surprised that it's not more popular. It's very small, lightweight and stylish. The screen is large (for an ultra-light) and very sharp. For my purposes it's absolutely perfect... and the price is very reasonable.
2-0 out of 5 stars Slow and hot
This portable runs very, very hot underneath (there are two warning stickers).Within a few minutes of booting, it is uncomfortably hot on the bottom side.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Ultra Portable Laptop
When i opened the package, i was amazed by its size and elegance.Having used a corporate laptop (dell d600) for the past 3 years, this was a refreshing change. This laptop is not for programming, gaming, heavy-duty number crunching, or other demanding tasks.I am using this for business school as a desktop extension, so the most taxing task i will be doing is moderate-level statistics, word processing, spreadsheet work, powerpoint presentations, and lite-weight database applications.

5-0 out of 5 stars Most People Should Learn to Use This Before Reviewing
This is a very technical piece of electronics, yet you see reviews from people who have no idea how to use the basic functions,(zoom (you can select/deselect options in zoom mode), wireless options, mouse sensitivity, standby mode (why do you want to turn the unit completely off in the middle of the day?)) giving negative reviews because of their own stupidity. This unit does all it is advertised to do, plus some. If you are willing to spend some time learning to use the features it has, it is a very entertaining and serious tool. I just loaded ritepen (handwriting recognition software) on this unit, and it works perfectly. Ignore the negative keyboard reviews because there is no need to use it when this software is installed.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Shipping from AMAZON
I ordered this on Augus16 from AMAZON on the17th it went to shipping status where I could not cancel the order - over the next week AMAZON said it was in stock - out of stock then back in stock. When I tried calling AMAZON to have the order cancelled I was infromed (by customer service supervisors) that it was absolutely impossible to cancel the order even though it was not in stock and that it would ship "soon". Finally I had to pull my credit card info from AMAZON so I could order it from another seller. I kid you not AMAZON customer service supervisoras (three different ones) told me they had NO WAY to call their shipping Dept to cancel the order and could only send EMAIL. The order still isn't canceled even though I removed my credit card info.
3-0 out of 5 stars Serious tool or novelty toy?
I have had the UX180P for about a month now.My goal was to have something ultra-portable to take into court with me to keep client information with me.In practice however, it is easier said than done.First of all, it took me a good while of tweaking to get fonts and resolution that made the screen actually readable for more than a few minutes without eye fatigue. The trade off was that some windows did not entirely fit the screen which made it difficult to operate some radio buttons. In addition, it is hit or miss on some applications and web sites. Some web sites are received with tiny fonts regardless of the settings on the computer. The built in zoom function helps but is limited by the fact that you can't actually take any actions while in zoom mode. You have to get out of the zoom mode to click on anything or do anything else.It could use a more functional zoom function. Also, I have not figured out how to adjust the sensitivity on the built in pointing device.I find that the slightest touch causes it to sense a click.I find myself opening programs and taking other unwanted actions.Battery life with the standard battery also limits its functionality as a portable work tool. The $350 for the extended battery is a ridiculous price. COME ON Sony! Also, it takes forever and a day to completely boot up.Switching between WLAN and WAN is not a smooth as advertised.I have to make several attempts before it finally actually switches to WAN. Advertising claims the computer to be Windows Vista ready. However, with minimal additional programs installed (a little over 1 GB at most), it does not have enough hard drive space for Windows Vista as per the Vista web site and compatability checker. It could use more hard drive and more RAM (or at least the ability to add additional RAM and not be limited to 512mb of RAM).It is next to impossible to efficiently type any long document with the built in keyboard. An external keyboard is a must for any extended and efficient typing. In the end, I find myself using it mainly for entertaining myself on the internet between court hearings and on the road (someone else drivig of course) by using the Cingular WAN connection. While I remain dedicated to Sony products, as usual, I am an early adopter that is slightly less than satisfied with what I got for the money. Then again, I still remember paying $1,000 for a Sony DSS satellite receiver when they first came out.If you have money to spend, are not expecting a serious portable work tool, and like to be the first kid on the block with the newest toy out there, buy it.Otherwise, wait for some fine tuning, more memory, and lower prices on the computer and accessories or buy a more useful tablet PC. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Nice tablet for the money!
To test the tablet functionality of the Toshiba R25, I'm writing this review on it--handwriting it and having the tablet enter it as regular text. So far, I think it's a really good, affordable computer for the money. I'm concerned about how great this computer will be in the long run, but so far, it's very impressed with it. I highly suggest this computer to anyone who's looking for an affordable tablet PC. If you don't intend to use the table itself, then I don't think this is worth buying--I'm sure there must be much more affordable alternatives to this one.But if you seriously do need a tablet and you want a convertible, then this the way to go.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for starters
Great tablet PC however there are some design flaws. The pen comes out the bottom when your at tablet mode. Also, the fingure print reader is premature. But for the price, it is a solid buy, even though the components making up the tablet is cheap. You get what you paid for, literally.

4-0 out of 5 stars Love it now but it did not work as expected out of the box
I was initially very disappointed with the performance of the wireless link.It was far from reliable!I had to download the updates to the drivers and apps and muck a little with the power saver tool. Now the machine works like a charm and I'm glad I bought it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars HP Sucks
HP has the WORST customer service of any company of any kind that I have ever dealt with. I have never called without having spent at least one hour on the phone with them before the various extensions in India, none of whom are helpful. And once the service is complete the computer is usually returned with more problems than they were origionally sent with. I would never buy another HP again.

3-0 out of 5 stars Computer vs Tech Support
After skimming through the other reviews I have to aggree with most of them. The notebook was fast and more than adequate for school. It played DVDs well and accepts aftermarket software to its nice memory space without slowing down performance.
2-0 out of 5 stars What happens after 6 months
I got this notebook last fall and was quite happy with it - for a reasonable price the configuration you get is much more better than the competitive laptops. I was thinking that this is a good deal that cannot be true - and I was right.
