The laptop is beautiful and sleek, with a very comfortable keyboard. It boots rapidly and the resolution is excellent.Couldn't be happier!

1-0 out of 5 stars Keyboard problems
This system has a "chiclet style" keyboard with small plastic shells attached on top of the key mechanisms. On my system, several keytops had a nasty habit of falling off. They are not easy to attach back on the keyboard, and eventually will not attach at all.

Consumers, be careful. I purchased my Sony VAIO VGNFE550G less than six months ago at Circuit City in Birmingham, Alabama. This product worked fine until a few days ago. Then, suddenly, the cd drive wouldn't read a disk. Called tech support and they advised me that I would have to perform a system recovery before they would even consider replacing drive! They want me to completely wipe my system, because they don't want to spend money on a new drive.I refused, and they agreed to overnight a
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Choice I made
I bought this laptop not long ago in March, If I can recall. It's a fantastic laptop and I have to say, I spent my money well on it. It comes with the Intel Duo Core Processor for multi-tasking which is a great thing, but if you're a gamer like me, beware that this is not the best. I suggest you getting the other laptop by Sony that lets you change the video chip. The hard drive holds 100gb of data, which is a good thing, but I find that it's not enough as I have a lot of songs and movies on it. The processor's speed is great! It runs smoothly. When you power on your laptop, the intro/logo appearance screen tends to take awhile to load before proceeding to the Windows XP screen. I don't know why its taking that long since my other sony vaio laptop, that is a centrino that doesn't have the duo core, pass that screen really quick. I guess that's the only bad thing that I don't like. The screen is 15 inch, which is pretty good with the brightness of the screen its giving. Before you do anything else on the laptop when you first buy it, I suggest making a recovery disk using the recovery wizard since Sony doesn't package a pre-made disc. I guess this is all I basically have to say about this laptop. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Toshiba A105-S361
So I've owned this laptop for about 3 months now. Its a nice laptop for its price, with a fast processor and plenty of really fast memory. The problem: I should have waited for the Core Duo's... although this laptop is fast enough for most thing I do, it lacks when it comes to gaming. nVidia's integrated video memory is one of the drawbacks of this system. Why not ship with a separate nVidia/ATI card?
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Machine
Its a wonderful laptop as compare to other laptops, the computer is actuallyquiter and cooler than other laptops. It is a well designed , well constructed ,affordable and a very powerful laptop. It has 120 GB of SATA drive with 1GB 4200 DDR2 RAM.The storage system is very well complimented with a Pentium M 760 processor. In the past I have used 4 other laptops and this is by far the best one . I have used a SONYFJ270 and a Vaio PCG FRV25, and an HP ZV5340us. HP laptops inherit a very common problem with the DC Connectors which goes out in about a year of normal use. VAIOs are still better but toshiba is the best. It is a very stable working machine that you will definitely like. The best part is that ,even though it is big but it is very light.

Blending affordability with productivity power, the HP Pavilion dv4230us notebook PC is a great choice for both business road warriors and multimedia enthusiasts on the go. 1-0 out of 5 stars HP Sucks
HP has the WORST customer service of any company of any kind that I have ever dealt with. I have never called without having spent at least one hour on the phone with them before the various extensions in India, none of whom are helpful. And once the service is complete the computer is usually returned with more problems than they were origionally sent with. I would never buy another HP again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great portable 64-bit experience
I've had this laptop for almost a year, and it's been a nice, trouble-free computer. The hard drive is a bit noisy, compared to my iBook, but the same can be said of IBM Thinkpads, so compared to other PC laptops one cannot really complain. It works great with 64-bit Linux distributions - as of 2006, even suspend and hibernate works out-of-the-box.
4-0 out of 5 stars Computer great. Custumer Service POOR!!!!!!
I just bought this computer and was having a little problem getting one of the programs working. So I called the number in my Customer Service booklet. When the person asked me what computer I had they told me that HP does not provide service to the Lance Armstrong Special Edition Laptops and that I need to return it to the store that I purchased it from; even though the Warranty book states I get 30 days of software support. Well I finally figured out that a program had not been fully installed. So I finnished installing the program and then it worked fine. I have had this computer for only two days so far but it plays movies really well is fast on start-ups, keyboard types nicely, the screen is bright and seems large for the size, and the wireless system seems to work really well. All and all I am pleased with the purchase just kind of miffed about the lack of support from HP. Going to write them a plesent little e-mail tomorrow. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This was a good laptop... 5 YEARS AGO
I cannot believe Amazon is trying to sell this for $500.Go to Dell, HP or Gateway online and you can find a new, much nicer, lighter, faster laptop with longer battery life for the same price.Seriously, I might buy something like this for $199 or $99.But this hardware is seriously dated. This is Pentium 3!This was first released back in 2001.Whatever you do, don't buy this for someone as a gift. You may loose a friend, get a divorce, or strain a family relationship to the breaking point.

1-0 out of 5 stars Boat Anchor
I should preface this by saying that I love IBM laptops -- I've had several (including the T42 I'm using to write this review) and agree they really are the gold standard for laptops.Although they may lack some of the whiz-bang features of HP and Dell machines, they are bullet proof, and have the best keyboards I've ever used.
4-0 out of 5 stars Thinkpads are business machines...
You want a solid, durable laptop for primarly business purposes, the Thinkpad series is the way to go.They are durable and can take strong handling. You don't need blazing speed when you're doing a spell check, you need a bulletproof machine, especially if you're a roadwarrior. You want games and videos, you absolutely can get a faster, sexier machine for the same money. It also won't last.Thinkpads aren't gamer machines; they were never meant to be.I do my spreadsheet, Access database, writing and web surfing on my T23, and it does it just fine.Business pros use Thinkpads...I rate it 4 stars only because it's an older model... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Laptop. Let an expert clear soem things up.
This laptop is very good for its price range. The pros far outweigh the cons. The LCD is one of the best I have seen on any laptop including Apple, it is bright, responsive and the image quality is second to none. mainstream application performance is very good, I upgraded from an Athlon XP 1800+ and there is simply no comparison. The laptop is light yet sturdy, battery life is above average and the onboard GPU is excellent for this price range. Contrary to popular belief the Radeon Xpress 200M is very capable of running all modern games with the settings tweaked for performance. Examples I run Need For Speed Underground at Medium resolution with all of the eye candy turned on except for motion blur and it runs smooth as can be, far better than the Radeon 9000 I had in my old laptop, I have successfully played Far Cry, Unreal Tournament 2004, Worlds of Warcraft, Quake 3, Need For Speed Underground 2 and all te EA sports titles. This laptop is not designed for gaming gurus but it indeed can play games. I was very surprised at the audio quality and the volume and crispness of the speakers. There are a few cons which I will list below but they are not enough to make me rate the laptop lower.

The apple ibook is the best computer that i've ever had.. not only is it beautiful but its very efficient andeasy to use. I have not had any problems with it in the 2 months that ive owned it,unlike other computers I have.I have an hp desktop that I purchased last year andive already had to get a new monitor and the tower turns off on its own.Hp gave me the run around about fixing it, even though I was still in warranty. After countless hours on the phone with a foreign country I gave up and purchased this ibook. The programs that are preinstalled are wonderfuland the customer service specialist are friendly and easy to understand. If your in the market to buy a computer i would definitely recommend that you purchase an ibook.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome laptop, and I got it free!
This colorful VAIO is way too cool ! It is very slim and lightweight, while providing the processing and storage power you need for multimedia. The built-in webcam is a nice bonus. The battery life is quite good (over 3 hours). And the best is that I got it free by a special promotion on this web site:awesomestufffree.com/laptop

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad laptop
I bought this notebook from a brick store as an emergency replacment after my brand new FS742 was stolen a week before I had to leave for South Africa. I have used this extensively for the last 2 months and am generally satisfied with it, except for one incident. A week into my trip, the DVD drive hung up and there was no way for me to re-boot the notebook. So I ended up holding the power button for a short while after which the notebook started asking for a bios level password (which I had never set) and stopped loading Windows. Extended web searches did not yield any help and I ended up taking this to Sony Support, South Africa which fortunately was close to where I was living.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Lightweight Tablet PC, Super Toshiba Quality!
I'm using this laptop as I write this review. The laptop exhudes typical Toshiba quality, and arrives fully packed with extra software. I only wish Microsoft would quit pushing its 'trial' Office 2003 on everyone's computers. if you use the 'buy now online' Microsoft feature, the price to buy it is $300! You can shop around and get a better bargain and most people are using Office anyway, so drop the trial version, Microsoft! Besides, you don't even get the CD. Toshiba includes One Note, which I haven't gotten the hang of, and MS Works. Works is a great free program because it now includes the ability to save as Word or Excel files to take to work.
