2-0 out of 5 stars What happens after 6 months
I got this notebook last fall and was quite happy with it - for a reasonable price the configuration you get is much more better than the competitive laptops. I was thinking that this is a good deal that cannot be true - and I was right.
4-0 out of 5 stars Cost-efficient solution
I bought this notebook a few months ago, and I have to say that I love it.I carry it back and forth to work regularly and she's holding up well. She's pretty speedy, except my iTunes sucks up a TON of memory which slows everything down.I think it's an issue with iTunes, not the laptop.
4-0 out of 5 stars Not a laptop expert but quite a deal
This laptop was quite a good buy for its price. I liked the fact that I got an 80 GB hard drive and DL DVD burner and the overall price of the laptop was under[...](after rebate of course). It was also great to get Radeon Xpress 200M instead of the usual Intel Extreme Graphics on other laptops. There were some things I wished were better in this laptop. The standard 6 cell battery could only last a little under 2 hours, which made taking notes in class a tricky proposition unless I plugged it into an outlet. Also, for some strange reason, the iTunes that came pre-installed on the laptop failed to launch no matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall (I don't think anyone else would have this problem). The laptop also could get hot quite quickly, but not a problem if you prop up the laptop.Overall, this was a great buy for me and I believe everyone would enjoy it ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Can't find anything better than T23!
I was using ThinkPad T21 for six years, and was extremely satisfied with quality of that laptop (especially its keyboard, which worked like new after all those years). In Sep-2006 I started looking for a replacement laptop - but not because T21 died - and couldn't find anything better than T23. I hate touch pads (and all T-series models, starting with T30, come with both TrackPoint *and* touch pad), I need three mouse buttons, serial port and both CD-ROM and floppy disk. The best fit for my requirements came in the form of ThinkPad T23 (2647-N22). Mine has 40 GB hard drive (it boots in either Windows XP, or Red Hat Linux), and 1 Gigabyte of RAM, the maximum amount this model can be upgraded to. Would recommend T23 - and any other ThinkPad laptop in general - over anything HP/Compaq or Dell can offer!

4-0 out of 5 stars happy with product
The first laptop we bought had a bad hard drive, however we called Amazon and you guys took care of the problem. The first computer that you sent us came with a removeable floppy drive, but the second computer you sent us did not. We called amazon and they credited us the amount for the floppy drive, and the shipping to ship the defective laptop back. Over all we all very pleased with amazon and our purchase. There were problems with our order but Amazon took care of it in a very professional manner.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a good machine
I recieved my computer and out the box is has performed excellently. I have no keyboard problems and am able to do all the things I did on my desktop and more since I'm now mobile. I highly reccommed this product to anyone who is looking for a desktop replacement. The screen view is high quality and every thing that is included makes it well worth the price.

1-0 out of 5 stars It's true, keyboard issues
This is a fantastic machine, but the problem with the keyboard is a fact. The good news is that HP service was excellent, they picked up the machine in one day, turned it around in one day, and I got it back the following day. The bad news is that the second keyboard, while much better is still not acceptable. The further bad news was that I had to reinstall windows before they would replace the keyboard, to make sure it wasn't a driver issue...although this made sense to me at the time, I now realize they should have had this issue in their database, and should not have put me thru that exercise...on the other hand my wife also has a dv8000 series machine and that keyboard is perfect.

My son bought this computerin July 05. had the motherboard and hard drive replaced this past April 06. Now the Display has gone out (out of warrenty) and the tech told him it can not take the heat. Otherwise okI guess.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great laptop if you're willing to spend the money.
I was planning on picking up a laptop at the end of 2004 or early in 2005, but learned about Intel's new mobile chips that feature more cache. So I waited and picked this up from Sony, which has the Intel M 750 at 1.86 Ghz and 2MB of cache. It also has Intel's 915PM chipset, which is Intel's better chipset for mobile applications. It has a great screen and plenty of power and memory.

by Toshiba
Personal Computers

Asin: B00005KJMA

Editorial Review

The Tecra 8200 is commendable in a number of ways. It's a better than average desktop-replacement or entertainment notebook that still manages to be quite portable. An 850 MHz Pentium III processor powers the system, and it's matched up with 128 MB RAM, a 20 GB hard disk drive, and an 8x DVD-ROM drive. The notebook's display is a 14.1-inch, active-matrix screen with 1,024 x 768 resolution. A 56K modem and 10/100 Mbps Ethernet networking are standard, too. The installed operating system is Windows 98, an OS that, while less robust than its cousin Windows 2000, can be easier to use and more forgiving if you plan to install a wide assortment of peripherals. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars A Overheating Nightmare
The A75 is an overheating nightmare...it just shuts off without warning...often...several times a day.I contacted Toshiba about the problem while it was still under warranty. It was tough to tell them the serial number of the machine because all of the labels on the bottom of the computer had melted away.Since the closest Toshiba service center was about 100 miles away (I live about 20 miles south of Nashville), I had to send it via UPS to be fixed. It came back, worked for about a month, and then resumed the same overheating baloney.
1-0 out of 5 stars Stay Away from Toshiba
I am regreting my decision to buy the Toshiba Satellite M35X-S309. Within a year of purchase I experinced problems with th power supply. The machine would switch to battery mode all of a sudden, draining my battery. At one point with the slighest of movement the power supply would change to battery mode. Finally the laptop stopped getting charged by electricity. Thankfully it all happened during my warranty period. I got the problem fixed, or so I thought. One year down the line, I'm facing the same problem all over again.
5-0 out of 5 stars After A full Year of ownership... Still Amazing
A lot of people say that the positive revies for products are often people who revied it the day the got it... not the case here. Ive had this computer for almost a year (will be in 2 weeks)
