After always owning a desktop since the beginning of time, I finally decided I wanted to trade in my computer desk, clunky CPU and everything else for a compact machine that can still meet all my needs.

4-0 out of 5 stars A bit bulky, but overall a great laptop
I have had the MS65machine for 3 months now and mostly I really love it. Its big - approximately 7 lbs,and about 1.4 inches thick. I travel with it a lot - so if it were lighter I would love it even more. But its very fast, has a huge, fast hard drive, and I like its appearance (the copper colored cover gives it nice appeal from the bland designs most laptops have.)

3-0 out of 5 stars The problem with 60 GB Hard Drive
Pay attention to "a kid's review". A 60 GB Hard Drive is not that common, and for a reason. I did a Google search for 'laptopproblems60gb' and sure enough the hard drive problems occur in many different brands of laptops including Dell Inspiron (one guy on a google forum reported 32 GB in bad sectors) and in Sony too. Since I'm not a heavy multi-media user, I didn't need much storage and my other choice was the Toshiba Satellite M65-S821 17" Notebook PC which is about $400 pricier if you factor in the extra shipping cost. I'm leaning towards the pricier laptop, even though I can hardly afford it and it didn't seem worthwhile to pay that much extra money for the bigger screen.
4-0 out of 5 stars Handy and Solid Machine
I have had this computer for a few weeks now - it works very well and has a very impressive screen - it works very well for demanding Dragon Naturally Speaking and enough power to run a bunch of programs at once. I had to call Toshiba service as I had a problem on the first day with the wireless - they had 24 hour service and this impressed me as I dialed at 3am ny time(Try calling Dell at that hour!). One annoyance is the mouse pad -it's slightly sticky and well I have never used a laptop mouse that I enjoyed - buy an external wireless one and everything will be just fine. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A work of art, indeed
I purchased my PowerBook G4 last year, and I must say, I do NOT regret it. I compared this machine with Dell's most powerful offering at the time (a monster Precision-line notebook), and promptly returned the Dell. Despite the Dell being three times faster with twice as much video memory, it was still in the 90's with its port configuration (still had a serial connector, still had only a 15-pin VGA for a supposed 'graphics notebook PC'). I won't get into any other details about the Dell except that of course, I would've been stuck with Windows, on a notebook that weighed a ton. It's measly 15" screen didn't help any, either.
5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent machine well worth the asking price..Great for people tired of windows that ,is prone to viruses and spyware.
Yes i own several windows based machines..They are okey, but i am tired of windows security risks, spyware ,malware and viruses..Because of this we purchased two of these machines, with updated ram,for work purposes...Wow the graphics, and screen quality, seem much better, than the windows based machines, selling for say 1600 dollars...For anyoneon a tight budget, stick with windows...Of course, once you use an apple based machine, you wont want to switch back...Customer service, and technical support, could be a lot better...They should not charge extra for premium support...Look for the sales.Dont be afraid to buy a discontinued model...Please check out this machine in person, and please make sure the retailer, has a good/refund/exchange policy.I highly recommend this machine..5 star rated. thank you stewart l 12/07/05.

1-0 out of 5 stars The WORST Customer Service of any Computer or Electronic Company Ever
The computer itself is adequate. That is if you don't have any problems (which is unlikely). However if you have to call in to Apple, BEWARE!Not only are you on Hold for over an hour, but once you get through to somebody, they will rush you off the phone.I asked the guy why he was being so rude and his reply was something like, he didn't have time to answer any questions.I asked for someone else and he spouted, I'm not required to let you talk to anyone else or give you my last name or something else (I lost track, after the first two "not required to's).I only asked to talk to someone else - the rest he just kept saying like it was a list of what he wasn't "required to" items. It was unbelievably rude.I have 3 Mac systems and 3 PC's and I will never buy Mac again. It simply is not worth it.Started to call back, but this is not the first bad experience I've had, just the worst.

1-0 out of 5 stars HP Sucks
HP has the WORST customer service of any company of any kind that I have ever dealt with. I have never called without having spent at least one hour on the phone with them before the various extensions in India, none of whom are helpful. And once the service is complete the computer is usually returned with more problems than they were origionally sent with. I would never buy another HP again. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Does it all!
I have owned this notebook for 2 months now, and it has performed beautifully. I wanted something that would be an entertainment/work computer all in one, with a decent sized hard drive and no lag time or freezing up when running multiple applications as I had alot of trouble with that with my old Compaq notebook. I can record movies (I boughtan additional tv tuner since this laptop did not have one built in), download video and music on iTunes and surf the web all at the same time. Media Center is a joy, and the lightscribe feature is also great. Bluetooth wireless is a pleasure, and the little remote that comes with the laptop is alot of fun. You can easily watch a movie or listen to music from across the room with the impossibly small remote. I have not experienced any problems with the keyboard buttons, but my solution is simple- ALWAYS purchase a service plan that goes beyond the manufacturer's warranty. I haven't had any problems yet, but I certainly expect to sometime in the next 3 years (par for the course with all electronics IMHO), and for a couple hundred dollars more I am covered. FYI I bought my laptop through Compusa.
2-0 out of 5 stars Great value...typical HP keyboard problem
This is a lot of computer for the money.Fast processor, built-in bluetooth, big hard drive, Lightscribe (which is cool).

1-0 out of 5 stars Keyboard problems
This system has a "chiclet style" keyboard with small plastic shells attached on top of the key mechanisms. On my system, several keytops had a nasty habit of falling off. They are not easy to attach back on the keyboard, and eventually will not attach at all.

1-0 out of 5 stars Just Pray you Never Need Warranty Service!
Consumers, be careful. I purchased my Sony VAIO VGNFE550G less than six months ago at Circuit City in Birmingham, Alabama. This product worked fine until a few days ago. Then, suddenly, the cd drive wouldn't read a disk. Called tech support and they advised me that I would have to perform a system recovery before they would even consider replacing drive! They want me to completely wipe my system, because they don't want to spend money on a new drive.I refused, and they agreed to overnight a
