Not quite ready for primetime.
I'm having some major issues with the keyboard. The latest bios doesn't fix a thing.Problem shutting down and launching programs on the machine.
Hard Drives are Bad, Do not order
After having this laptop for 60 days, it completely self-destructed.A tech went through HP to fix it, and they said the hard-drive was bad and would ship us a new one in 2 days. A week went by, no hard-drive.
Get a free Sony VAIO FJ instead!

Love it!!!
Long live Mac!It easy to use; the software is pragmatic and fun; I hook it up to my printer and e-Mac without any problems.I'm now using a wireless router for e-mail and internet and it's great.I'm already preparing presentations for school in the fall.

The apple ibook is the best computer that i've ever had.. not only is it beautiful but its very efficient andeasy to use. I have not had any problems with it in the 2 months that ive owned it,unlike other computers I have.I have an hp desktop that I purchased last year andive already had to get a new monitor and the tower turns off on its own.Hp gave me the run around about fixing it, even though I was still in warranty.After countless hours on the phone with a foreign country I gave up and purchased this ibook.The programs that are preinstalled are wonderfuland the customer service specialist are friendly and easy to understand.If your in the market to buy a computer i would definitely recommend that you purchase an ibook.

Awesome laptop, and I got it free!
This colorful VAIO is way too cool ! It is very slim and lightweight, while providing the processing and storage power you need for multimedia. The built-in webcam is a nice bonus. Not a bad laptop
I bought this notebook from a brick store as an emergency replacment after my brand new FS742 was stolen a week before I had to leave for South Africa. I have used this extensively for the last 2 months and am generally satisfied with it, except for one incident. A week into my trip, the DVD drive hung up and there was no way for me to re-boot the notebook. So I ended up holding the power button for a short while after which the notebook started asking for a bios level password (which I had never set) and stopped loading Windows. Extended web searches did not yield any help and I ended up taking this to Sony Support, South Africa which fortunately was close to where I was living.

Super Lightweight Tablet PC, Super Toshiba Quality!
I'm using this laptop as I write this review.The laptop exhudes typical Toshiba quality, and arrives fully packed with extra software. I only wish Microsoft would quit pushing its 'trial' Office 2003 on everyone's computers. if you use the 'buy now online' Microsoft feature, the price to buy it is $300! You can shop around and get a better bargain and most people are using Office anyway, so drop the trial version, Microsoft! Besides, you don't even get the CD. Toshiba includes One Note, which I haven't gotten the hang of, and MS Works. Works is a great free program because it now includes the ability to save as Word or Excel files to take to work.

Awesome, but could have been bettrer
I've owned 2 Toshibas before this one.The first two were awesome in just about every way.While the second, the 5105-s501 had some issues with the hard drive, installing the fix recommended by Toshiba resolved those issues and I still have this laptop working in top condition!
O.K computer
This computer is alright for the price.I bought mine on sale at Wal Mart for 950, so it seems like a powerful laptop with the centrino processor, DVD superdrive, and Xbrite screen for a cheap! price.Well, let me tell you the truth about this machine as a user and owner for 6 months. I havent had any of the mechanical errors or problems that some other users experienced.
Problems with Touchpad, Keyboard, and USB ports after one month - Toshiba refuses to replace
I have owned a Toshiba M45-S359 for one month.There are two major problems.In the first week, I noticed the USB ports would stop working if the computer went into sleep mode.Because this is my business machine, I disabled sleep mode and continued using the computer.One month later, the mouse touchpad has failed.I believe the problem occurs when the computer reaches a certain temperature.I contacted Toshiba for a replacement.They refused.The computer is one month old an under warranty.

Be wary of HP
I bought a zd8060us 17" notebook with a very similar configuration to the zd8110. We absolutely loved it and for 17 months it was great but last week the graphics card failed. Unfortunately it was out of warranty but we decided we still wanted to fix it as it had cost us nearly $2000. But we have now been told by HP that they no longer carry this graphics card and there is no replacement. I cannot believe that HP would not have the parts to repair laptops they have sold in the last 2 years. I will never buy HP again after this experience. I would suggest to everyone to buy their computers with a credit card that offers to extend your warranty period which is the avenue we are pursuing now.

HP Sucks
HP has the WORST customer service of any company of any kind that I have ever dealt with. I have never called without having spent at least one hour on the phone with them before the various extensions in India, none of whom are helpful. And once the service is complete the computer is usually returned with more problems than they were origionally sent with. I would never buy another HP again.

An excellent buy
Mine is a dv4305us HP Pavilion, which has but an 80 GB hard drive, but 2 USB ports, and 512 MB of memory. Yet it performs excellently. It finds and connects with local Wi-Fi access points easily and allows me to conduct business online at home or away with ease.

A machine that does everything!!... that i need though
I am 13years old graphic design lover and this lappy got me everything that I need.... well actually daddy upgraded the RAM into 2Gb PC3200 for my hobby. Dad also installed the Japanese MUI pack.. (maybe to let me know that I am a Japanese kid that living outside Japan)

I bought this computer and had the shut down problems and the display went out in less than a year , toshiba fixed it then it did it again , and it was one week past warranty...
IMHO ... Do NOT buy this product!

Toshiba laptop i svery bad
I bought Toshiba Satellite A105-S2716 9 months ago (2006). It was already repaired twice. At its 6 months, its motherboard was dead. I sent it to repair center which is more than 30 miles away from my place. It was changed a new motherboard. At its 9 months, its screen is dead (just blank). I sent it to repair center again. The Toshiba customer service and repair center are very bad. They asked me to send/pick up the laptop (paid by myself).
Battery problem
Its a great computer but the its not so good i can even work 2 hours.

A Constant Companion
I toted a Toshiba 105 Series belonging to my office for 18 months.Upon retirement recently, I couldn't see going to any other brand.

Power problems, but otherwise a great computer
I've had this model for about 2 years and am generally satisfied with it with a few exceptions.The screen suddenly goes black from time to time (irrespective of the energy-saving settings), it gets burning hot after a short period of time (nearly melted a pen sitting next to it), and the battery is a real pain because it has to be plugged in after a short time (20 minutes or less).I've taken care of the battery as recommended, so that's not the cause of the short-life problem. As another reviewer pointed out, the speakers could have greater volume (to hear over the fan, lol).Also, if it could be less heavy in the ol' briefcase, that'd be nice... it's a bit cumbersome.It also seems to be slow opening programs as simple as Word and Excel. That being said, it's easy to use the wireless connection, the screen clarity is great and it's otherwise a responsive little tool.I wouldn't pay again what I paid for it in '04, but if you can get a decent discount on it, go with it.

Very good but one problem.
I think that this is a very good computer, matter of fact im using it right now but when used for 15 min it gets hot, and I mean very hot. I burned myself using it and forgetting that it gets hot. Except for that little detail, overall I have never had any viruses and I think that this computer will last me a long time.

I bought this machine to replace my sony vaio pcg-grz630 that had some sort of unfixable issue that caused it to turn off and then only turn back on occasionally if you held your breath and tossed salt over your left shoulder while saying chants to the old-gods.My experience with Sony support was the stuff of nightmares.I never did talk to anyone who could give me any answers despite hours spent in frustration.My vaio was a "better" machine if you just look at the specs.It had a bigger hard-drive, more memory, was faster, and more expensive, but my toshiba outperforms it.Here's how:

WORKS FINE FOR ME
I bought two of these laptop computers and they work very well. I have had no problems with the wireless or any other system in the unt. I would reccomend it to anyone who wants an inexpensive starting notebook. I have never had to deal with the service dept. at HP so I can only sympathise with the other reviewer. Hugh

Terrible Service-Wireless capability
I received this computer on 12/21/05.The wireless never worked properly, and CD player had trouble reading music disks.Over the last 2 months I have spent over 20 hours on the phone with the HP help desk trying to get the wireless to work.I have received a replacement wireless card and eventually received aproval to return the notebook for repair.The had it for 2 weeks and finally sent it back with out doing anything, and I still have the same problem, it is no different.Today I requested a refund from the service desk for returning the computer because I'm sick of wasting time on it without any progress.The told me a case manager would call me back Monday which I doubt because 5 other times I was told that I would receive a call back and never did.The help desk seems to be staffed by people who use English as a second language and do not appear to be very knowledgable, and hard to understand most of the time.I would never buy an HP Pavilion, even though the computer seems like it would be a nice one, what good is it if I can't get on the internet? ... Great laptop
I bought a T60 as a replacement for my Thinkpad T40. I did not go wrong with my decision. Even though IBM sold its PC unit division to Lenovo, the Thinkpad still has the same durable "feel" as the older Thinkpads.

Desktop Replacement That Travels Well
I grudgingly got a Satellite after my Inspiron burned out, and I didn't expect to warm to it as quickly as I did.It's faster, brighter, lighter, and much more versatile, particularly in multimedia.Keyboard, screen, and other basic components are solid.

Overall a bad choice
The only good thing i can say about this laptop is that it looks good.They call it a amd turion 64 but it comes loaded with only 32 and you have to download the other 32 if you can find out where.The hard drive is configured for split fat 32 instead of ntfs.The resolution is 1680 x 1050 and that makes every thing super small and hard to read.I didnt think about resolution when i bought mine.I still cant figure out what this resolution is good for.Its not good for gaming or surfing the internet.The display screen is very dim set on the brightest setting.The bluetooth mouse seems to work only when it feels like it.The sound is terrible and has static.I bought mine sight unseen and am very disapointed with it.It has a very high price for such a low performing machine.
