I originally bought an HP Pavilion zd7500.After sending it in five times for the power cord not working and all the wasted time sitting on hold, they finally replaced it.They replaced it with this piece of garbage.I do extensive work on my laptop and I am telling you if you want a personal space heater by this machine.Not only will it keep you warm it will overheat and crash on you while running your screen saver or a word document.Note to user, don't place this unit on a table.This is unfortunately inherited by a lot of laptops that run the Intel Pentium 4 with Hyper Threading.I suggest looking for something better without Intel HT.

THIS LAPTOP AND TOSHIBA ARE HORRIBLE!!!!
I had my laptop for about 10 months before the hard drive inexplicably crashed on me.I would rate this a zero if I could, but the lowest is a 1.The service center Toshiba told me to have it repaired at couldn't identify any specific problems.They simply told me it was faulty and had to be replaced and none of my files were recoverable.The service center didn't even replace it with another hard drive of the same capacity.Toshiba won't take responsibility for helping me recover my files through another resource, reinstalling my software or reimbursing me for hundreds of dollars worth of music downloaded on my original hard drive... or, even worse, the countless and priceless pictures I had saved to my computer in the past year.I have yet to speak with anyone at Toshiba who has been able to help resolve any problems.No one in their customer relations is ever available to talk.I have been on hold waiting to speak with someone for hours!!!As a single mother whose livelihood depends on the use of a computer, this whole thing has left me beyond angry.Shame on Toshiba for building such undependable products and not standing behind them or taking responsibility when they break.

Exceptional Value for price
I've had my M45-S269 about 6 months now, and I'm quite satisfied with it. The build quality is above-average for the pricepoint, the full-size keyboard is well laid out and has a tight, positive feel, the display is big, crisp and bright, the Super MultiDrive is an excellent feature allowing reading from/writing to just about any optical media. Connectivity options abound, including Wireless 802.11 b/g (with excellent range and stability), BlueTooth, IrDA, 10/100 Ethernet, V.92 Modem w/hold, USB 2.0 x3, FireWire 400 x1, S-Video out, PCMCIA I/II x1, and a 6-way built-in memory card reader. Its ability to play media without booting is another real plus. Hardcore gamers should look elsewhere, but folks looking for a laptop to actually do work with likely will find the M45-S269 high on the short list.

Nice concept but fragile and HP support is terrible
If these machines would work consistently as promised they would be great.It's very fragile and best used as a small desk top.
Great Computer . . . While it lasted.
I finally bought this computer 4 months ago for college, after sampling and returning two different compaqs.Overall, I was very happy with it.I am not a gamer, but I had few problems with it.Occasionally the feature intended to run a DVD without turning on the hard drive (very handy) would freeze up, but other than that, wonderful!Good battery life, good graphics, nice screen, handy remote, pretty good speakers, nice keyboard, held up well when transported, and not too heavy.However, 4 months after purchase, it died.The monitor turned off in the middle of operation, and it would not turn back on for longer than 30 seconds.Still under factory warranty, I sent it in to Hp, but despite numerous phonecalls, no one even got back to me to give me a time estimate for its return for over two and a half weeks.Overall, I would recommend a more reliable brand of computer. (I had ZERO problems with my last laptop, a dell, in 3 years of heavy use.)

I just purchased this computer and i really like it. The screen quality is excellent and the sound system is also above average for a laptop.I love the remote control feature for watching movies and dvd's. The only problem I have encountered in the week that I've had it is that sometimes it will freeze-up when I try to start a game or even when I start up the computer. Crappy support staff
Poor support staff.I would rate the helpfulness of the staff 0 but because I had used their product for some time, I would rate their product acceptable and their service (except for the sales people who are trying to get you to part with your money) 0.
BEWARE OF TOSHIBA
I sent my Toshiba Satellite to the company for warranty service and never got it back and the company has ignored all requests, including those by the Better Business Bureau.

Outstanding computer
This is a great laptop.The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is that it initially had a 'hang' or 'freeze' problem when switching between web-sites.After some searching on Toshiba's web-site, I found the simple solution and download.Highly recommended.Great speed, sound and display.I do not use the fingerprint reader so can not comment.

Very Cool - Meets the Need - Too Much Software
I did all the reasarch I could and found this to be the best of the mini notebook breed for the price. Its like the designers took a thinkpad and shrunk it. Fear not the 7" screen. The software allows you to Zoom in anytime by hitting FN + Spacebar. The fingerprint recognition is cool but the software took some getting use to. I'd advise reformating the HDand reloading XP or at least systematically removing some of the junk programs it comes loaded with to speed up the startup . Upgrade to 1Gig RAM helps also. The keys do take some getting use to and theres always a foldup usb keyboard for those with big fingeres. Bluetooth allows you to use a cell phone in a pinch to connect to the net as well as for peripherals like mouse and keyboard. For the money it is the prefect solution for the traveler who wants to stay in touch. For me it was worth the bucks.. Sure as heck beats a blackberry !

It is more than I expected.The power, beauty, clear screen, and features - I have had it a week and it is has become like my good friend.Yes the keyboard is small but it is a small computer.The keyboard is fine for small jobs.

VERY NICE LAPTOP / NOTEBOOK
At first I was also dubious of the purchase.However, once I installed a few software and deleted the many useless softwares that it came with I was very much satisfied.
Sony's FS series is mediocre at best!
Okay, there are some great pros about this laptop, but there is also a lot that Sony could've done better.The FS series has always been their consumer laptop, with low cost in mind, and it shows.Because of this, the FS series has always seemed to dampen Sony's quality as a computer manufacturer.Sony is most notable for their S and SZ series notebooks (13.3" Screen), or their ultraportable T and TX series, so the FS series kind of has a lack of flare in comparison.

DON'T BUY THIS NOTEBOOK
I bought this notebook and it is completely broke. It went 4 times to the repair center indicaed by Toshiba and they were not able to fix the problem (it is under warranty). Since April, I have a total useless notebook. Problem: computer shuts dow, a blue screen appears saying that a problem occurred and windows was shut down to prevent damages. Do a Google search and you will see that several Toshiba computers have this problem. Don't buy it, you will have problems as I had and Toshiba will keep suggesting that you bring notebook to a repair center until warranty expires....

Terrible Product
Unit locks up, battery has to be removed and re-installed in order to power up on AC or DC about 30% of the time. Have hadd the DVD drive replaced and still does not work all of the time. XD card reader only reads 256 MB card. At times types "characters" instead of the letter I am typing, etc. etc. etc.
Chances of getting a lemon are high
I've only had my notebook for 3 months and in this time period I've had the notebook shutdown from overheating, drive errors, files constantly becoming corrupt, program failure, and drive failures. I've sent in the notebook twice now to be repaired only to recieve it a week later. It works fine for 5 minutes then all the problems happen all over again. What really bugs me is that whenever I call the support center the supposed "expert" has me go through repair steps I've done several times before I call them for help. I'm never buying a product from Toshiba again since all they sell are subpar products and refuse to acknowledge their poor performance. ... Read more

HP Sucks
HP has the WORST customer service of any company of any kind that I have ever dealt with. I have never called without having spent at least one hour on the phone with them before the various extensions in India, none of whom are helpful. And once the service is complete the computer is usually returned with more problems than they were originally sent with. I would never buy another HP again ... Read more
