5-0 out of 5 stars A PC Bigot Comes Out of the Closet
When I was about 12, I used a Macintosh computer for the first time. I was amazed by the small disk drive and the little pointer device I'd never seen before: a mouse. It was my friends mac, and it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. BUT... the only software my buddy had was for drawing. So I drew. I experimented with textures. I made all sorts of drawings. They probably sucked, but I had fun. I asked about other software, but he didn't have any. Nothing? I couldn't believe it. No games? None. I never looked at a mac the same after that first experience. Easy to use, very cool looking, but not for me. I needed more software than just drawing.
5-0 out of 5 stars Apple knows how!
I have been an Apple Mac user since 1985 when the first Mac came out. It was a 128K model ($2,795). The difference between that early Mac and the new iMac 2.16GHz, 20 inch model ($1,399) is like riding a mule vs. taking the space shuttle to get around. My new iMac 2.16GHz (plus a new Mac Mini) have state of the art technology that is beyond stellar. I control my life with these new machines: bill paying, communications (I am email centric), light graphics work, printing and so on is done with Macs. Macs were always good with graphics, but now they are the very best out of the box and I find myself regularly archiving family photos with ease, photos that might never have come out of their shoeboxes without Mac's new iPhoto. What I need to do probably only uses 5% of iMac's capacity to perform. Also, with the Universal capability Macs and PCs are almost joined at the hip so when I get stuff from friends who use PCs I can open almost all their attachments. It was not always this way. Also, I travel a great deal and now can easily stay on top of my life with a speedy Mac on the internet. No more running to post offices all over creation to send off all those routine bill payments. I can't imagine what else I might need in a computer. My needs are not all that complex, I am not a geek or gamer, but the new iMac is worth every penny for normal users too and iMacs covers almost all of the bases (99%) that most people need to cover. And it is just about crash proof so it humms through its chores with ease and with very little frustration for the user. I have never owned a PC, but over the past two decades I have been tempted more than once. I thought about switching to have broader access to everything that makes up the personal computer world. But now I never will switch, there is no need to! Mac has closed the universality gap and zoomed by PCs and is not looking back...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Computer
I have had this computer for about 2-3 weeks now and it is a great computer. The screen is big but not too big for my small kitchen office. The performance is great.I must use windows to log into the electronic medical record system at my office and I installed parallels and run XP professional without a hitch.XP is faster on this computer running on parallels than it is on my PC at the office!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
With some trepidation, I made the big switch from PC to MAC. It takes a little getting used to, but so far, so good! The 17" iMac is gorgeous and does what it is supposed to do. The Dual Core processor is a nice touch, it is very fast. The 1gb of standard RAM is sufficient for most, and if you need more, it is upgradeable to 3gb. There is a user-accessable panel so you can install the memory yourself. I would have liked a larger hard drive, maybe that is something I can upgrade in the future. The slot loading Super Drive does it all and is very cool--no trays to malfunction or break off. The system comes with a cool little remote control that attaches magnetically to the side of the monitor when not in use. You can access the multimedia functions of the computer with the remote via Front Row. The only complaint I have about the remote is that the battery was completely dead when I received the package! What's up with that, Amazon??? The keyboard and Mighty Mouse are cool and sleek. I don't know how long all this white is going to look good in my house, but here's hoping. The cable for the keyboard is not long enough, so if you want to maintain the minimalistic look of the iMac, I would suggest going wireless. The display is crystal clear and bright--great for watching DVDs. The built-in speakers are OK, there is some room for improvement there. The included software is pretty good, but they only give you a test drive of Office 2004; a full version would be much nicer! The iSight camera built in on the top of the display is pretty cool, and the Photo Booth software is fun to play around with. All in all, this is a good deal for the money--I would recommend! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific Desktop, Great Value, Very Stable O/S
First- let's start with the fact that we converted to Mac's in our office 2 years ago, and have never regretted it for a moment. We are in the real estate development business and use 6 systems networked with 3 HP Color printers on a 100/1000 mbit ethernet routers and switches, and can tell you we never, ever have a problem of any consequence in either the O/S, compatibility on the web, or with applications such as Adobe, Microsoft and Intuit.
1-0 out of 5 stars Computer Rocks - Amazon Customer Service Sucks
As others have noted, the memory configuration is wrong. Good luck trying to get Amazon to claim responsibility for the error. Customer Service says it's their policy to post what's provided to them from the manufacturer (right or wrong) and will not make good on any errors because "it's not their fault."
5-0 out of 5 stars Dream Machine
This is an amazing machine.I've owned a few macs and when the 24" came out I thought "Oh, I don't think it's worth upgrading" until I saw one at the apple store.Within seconsd of seeing it I knew I had to get one.

Boost your productivity with the first Apple Mac Pro (model MA356LL/A) desktop PC, which is the first Apple desktop to be powered by the 64-bit dual-core Intel Xeon processor. But the Mac Pro offers even more power by combining two dual-core 2.66 GHz Xeon processors, creating an unbelievably powerful quad-core workstation that can handle even the more intensive graphics rendering. Its redesigned industrial-style enclosure offers improved functionality with a cable-free installation process and massive upgrade ability--up to 16 GB of 667 MHz RAM and four hard drive bays for up to 2 TB (that's terabytes) of storage under the hood. And while it comes standard with a 16x SuperDrive (compatible with burning DVD±R/RW and CD-R/RW discs), you can also add a second writing SuperDrive. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So quiet and tiny!
I was so surprised to see the small box this CPU came in. I love the compact build of it, it's very fast and super quiet, I can't tell if it's on without looking at the light. The only thing I wish they could've given me another CD drive like I had on my old computer. But, I'm very happy with it so far, this is my 3rd HP since my first one back in 1996.
3-0 out of 5 stars What's the Catch??
I'll tell you the catch. I just bought this today, and it has a lot of great qualities: It's compact, light, fast, but...

5-0 out of 5 stars Great system!
I'll begin by saying this is my first time I've bought a computer that I have not put together myself. Last year, I purchased an HP laptop, and have been very satisfied with it and decided to go ahead and give it a try with this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Media PC
I did a lot of research before I purchased this unit.I wanted a Media PC that would fit in my stereo rack that would actually look like my other components. My final two choices were this sony and the HP.I chose the Sony because it has HDMI (I like having the sound transfered over Digital) output, which none of the other Media PCs have out there and the processor was a dual core, which means it's more up to date than other units I looked at.

5-0 out of 5 stars Windows, watch out!
I was a Mac user until 1998, when it appeared Apple was as done as three-month old bread. I gave up hope and went with Windows, fought through 95, 98, NT, 2000 and XP (never bothered with Millennium), and pretty much considered defeat.

5-0 out of 5 stars MACTABULOUS!!!
For all those people who are concerned about space restrictions and want a powerhouse computer that will not need a large footprint, the Mac Mini is the perfect solution. Packing a boatload of power into a computer yay bigger than a coaster, there is no better power/space combination in the entire computing world!
5-0 out of 5 stars fast little machine
I actually bought the mac mini at a local Apple store because Amazon does not carry the configuration that I wanted, which is:
5-0 out of 5 stars Apple Mac mini ROX. Amazon, I have concerns about.
The Mac mini is a great little machine if you want something that is cute, compact, quiet and very connected to the outside world. Don't get it if you really need a high-performance desktop machine -- it is not for World-o-Warcraft. But it's perfect for web surfing, photo retouching, ripping music, editing video and burning DVDs.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great product if you're the right buyer
Before i tell you what the iMac 17" is, let me tell you what it's not.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value for a desktop machine
My kids love these (we own two) because it can runs Windows and they can play PC games. I've never seen Windows run faster.
1-0 out of 5 stars I will not purchase another Apple product in a very long time
The product is fine, but Apple probably has the worst customer support I have ever experienced.Their amount of topics on their on-line support is not broad enough. It is only helpful if you have very simple problems (like if you're having problems ejecting a CD from your drive), but for more complicated problems the on-line support is completely useless.Their phone support is even worse.I waited on the phone for 45 minutes to talk to a customer support person so he can tell me he would only help me if I paid more money.Next time I'll buy a PC with Dell or Gateway.Like I wrote, the product is fine, but part of the reason for choosing a particular PC is for customer support.Because I believe Apple's customer support to be horrid, I will not be purchasing another Apple product for a very long time. ... A lot of the reason I am so pleased with the Mac Mini has to do with Amazon.com.Great customer service, price, shipping.Buying this from the Apple store would have cost me $150 more. Now, about the computer-
1-0 out of 5 stars Apple has terrible support for this product, RUN!
I bought a Mac mini last year from the online Apple Store. I also bought AppleCare with the machine. I have had nothing but problems with the unit since the first month. The video card is apparantly bad and when the machine heats up the machine freezes and the video tears and in a few more minutes blanks out completely. All you can do is pull plug and you must wait for about 20 minutes and then you can start again.
