1-0 out of 5 stars BROKE TWICE IN THREE MONTHS
I loved this computer for the first week. Then, it died.Just blackout died completely. When I took out the battery, it started right up.Two months later it broke again.Same thing but the battery trick didn't work this time. When I took it in, they said the hard drive was gone. They couldn't even recover any of the data.Getting it repaired took ten days after many, many phone calls to Apple to get me on an expedite list, because the hard drive was on back order!
5-0 out of 5 stars An amazing laptop!!!

My first Mac. Switching is like learning to drive a right hand drive car.A little frustrating at times but the MAC OSX is Very well designed and intuitive and user friendly. The upcoming Windows Vista looks a lot like a MAC OS.

2-0 out of 5 stars Thousands of MacBooks experiencing random shut downs
My MacBook started RSDs last Friday the 13th after using it for 2 months. It's very frustrating to be working on something or reading a web page and all of the sudden the screen goes black. Then you have to restart and it doesn't even want to start right away. I also sometimes get RSD after powering up and logging into my user account and when waking it from sleep. For the record, I ordered this from another online source, not Amazon.First it took a month to even recieve my MacBook. When I did recieve it, It had a lazy pixel and now has 3. Then I had trouble with the super drive, it refused to open or eject a CD I put in. Now RSD. Fortunately I procrastinated taking it to the Genius Bar otherwise I would have been in there 3 times getting it serviced. Making an appointment has not been easy, I've been trying for 2 days (I still don't have one), maybe they are getting an over load of MacBooks in for service. I talked to tech support and they said they are aware of the problem and I need to take it in for service.Ya think ? Well they have been made aware because this has been going on for a few months and there are thousands of complaints about RSDs and the super drive defects. There's even a web site devoted to the RSD problem started by a disgruntled consumer. If you do a google search on MacBook random shut downs, you'll get tons of links with info and complaints on this. Or go to Apple's Support discussions pages.Supposedly the heatsync and logic board need replacement, which may or may not help. Some people in the message boards have complained that they started getting RSDs soon after getting the parts replaced.Supposedly the latest production MacBooks will have the new parts.
1-0 out of 5 stars REFRAIN FROM BUYING THIS COMPUTER!
Okay, now I have been a faithful Mac user forever. But since buying the new Macbook, I have been nothing but frustrated and furious with Apple and Macs.I am a college student at USC and have been without a computer 7 or my 9 weeks at school. It is stressful enough being in your first year of college, without having to spend hours on the phone with apple and having to send off your NEW computer to be repaired SEVERAL TIMES!
4-0 out of 5 stars good...besides the one shutdown
I got my macbook three weeks ago. I like the new macbook. But i also experienced a major shut down, out of nowwhere, like the very next week. Nothing worked. It took a day or two to get it to work again. But that was the only major issue, so far, hopefully! The keyboard needs a little getting used to. All the other features are pretty neat, though. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars The Toshiba A-Series needs to evolve from this underpowered slump
The Toshiba A-Series has so much unused potential; most of which comes from their target market of college students and budget professionals. That being said, there is a lot this laptop has going for it, and a lot that still makes me question Toshiba's motives. The thing that this laptop does right, it florishes in, but the things that aren't up to par, are way under what they should be. I'll break down the pros and cons.

2-0 out of 5 stars full of bulls...overpriced gimmicky gadget
4 stars for neat factor, 0 stars for price.in 2006 you now know why sony sucks at portable electronics, they not only missed the boat, they still think their original sony cassette walkman is still the bomb.for half the price you can pick up any smart phone with ten times the features. file this under mini-disc, memory stick, and beta along with the soon to be defunct blu-ray.a strong brand getting weakened by its own products... who's in charge there anyway???(although for $50 to $99 i can see this item flying out the door.)

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Skype Phone
This device gets a lot of critism for limited feature, and that is true.HOWEVER, this is the best Skype phone on the market.I bought it and then lowered by cell phone bill.Since it cost as much and any other Skype wi-fi portable phone, just think of more as a high-featured skype phone than a low-featured communicator.Definatly worth the purchase.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good Wi-fi Connectivity But a Caveat
The audio quality using SKYPE is very, very good. Battery life is so far exceptional, particularly with regard to the Mylo as an mp3 player. But what is troublesome so far has been my inability to make video that plays acceptably by the device.I have used PSP Video 9 and InterVideo to Go to produce mp4 video which the player invariably plays, but the end result is a pixellated catastrophe.Playing the same mp4 files with QuickTime causes no such problems. I have downloaded mp4 files made by Sony's proprietary Image Converter 2 Software; these work well in the Mylo. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My black Macbook
This is my 2nd Mac laptop, my first being a 14' white iBook that served me very well for 2+ years. This new Macbook pretty well addresses all of my "small" wishes and complaints with the iBook I had. Love the sleek black profile and lightness, and especially the glossy screen that's VERY wide versus very TALL. Most anything you may wish to watch these days via iTunes or DVD movies, etc are formatted wide anyway. The keys are GREAT.. durable and low-form-fitted towards the base of the machine. They barely click when used. I do not like to hear a "tap tap tappity" when folks are on their keyboards, even myself! :D Everything looks good on this monitor.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product and Great Rebate
Based on all the previous reviews, you can tell this is a great laptop.I just wanted to comment on how good Amazon was on processing the rebate.I have just about given up on products that offer rebates (i.e. I either miss the UPC Code, the receipt wasn't the original, etc.).However, Amazon provided constant updates and the check arrived in the time frame given by Amazon.I am glad I bought this product through Amazon and would trust them again with a product offering a rebate.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome notebook... just don't buy it from Amazon.
I bought this MacBook to replace a 12" PowerBook G4 that died on me a few months ago, and let me just say - I absolutely love it. The black is SLEEK, and the performance is great.

3-0 out of 5 stars Well designed, but poorly made. Sorry, it's a "cheap Sony"
It's a well designed but relatively poorly made notebook. The LCD screen is beautiful and the stereo is impressive. The design and display are totally "Sony". However, the external material is very cheap. The body shows a visible bending with just a little push by fingers.

3-0 out of 5 stars Be Careful with this Laptop
I have to be up-front here - I bought a different model Toshiba - the M105-S3041, from Amazon last month. This laptop, the M105-S3064, uses the same case and display as my laptop.I was initially very happy with it.However, I must caution any potential buyers of two issues.First, the powerinlet on the back of the laptop isn't sufficiently reinforced and can be deformed if you are not careful.I have been careful with mine but somehow I damaged it and I just had to use a jeweler's screwdriver to get the power plug inserted into the back of the laptop. The power supply still charges the battery - but the plug is now a loose fit in the back of the laptop.Second - through normal use I now have two different sets of dead pixels on the display. One looks like two pixels - the other looks like three. This is the ninth laptop (one Toshiba, six Dells, one H-P, and one Compaq) I have purchased for myself or my family (two daughters in college) and this is the ONLY system which I have discovered any dead pixels. For the price (mine was $749) these are otherwise great little laptops - just be forewarned.

5-0 out of 5 stars Verdaderamente la recomiendo
despues de checar varios equipos de varias marcas, checando componentes y toda la cosa esta fue una exelente opcion, es compacta, ligera, la pila dura bastante, y la verdad su precio es justo por los componentes que la integran.

1-0 out of 5 stars I do not reccomend this item or Toshiba for that matter
I purchased this notebook from BestBuy on a spur of the moment because I had been looking for a replacement for my HP which was old and I was afraid of HP since they merged with Compaq (junk). I had it for about 2-3 months when I tried to burn a couple of CDs and the DVD super multi drive died. I brought it to the only local service provider for Toshiba and they sat on it for three or four weeks before they anounced: "you have a bad DVD drive" (genius). Then they call back weeks later and say they can't get a new drive from Toshiba for at least another 3 weeks. Now were talking getting my notebook back in about two months total to fix a problem that should not have happened in the first place. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I absolutely LOVE this computer!
I bought this little laptop because I have a large "desktop replacement" 17" widescreen also which has become too large to bring to meetings, classes or seminars I may go to and I noticed many other executives using this Sony TX model so when I received it I was pleasantly surprised at the weight, the outstanding color and brightness and I get tons of comments on how practical and helpful it is in meetings! I bought another one recently for my husband as I originally bought him a Sony UX which is too small and not very practical which I'm now returning and he absolutely loves his Sony TX too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!You can get add-on memory directly from [...] for a great price too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great portable computer
I got this computer about a week ago and I absolutely love it!It is incredibly small while still being practical.Probably not a great computer for anyone with limited vision, but otherwise perfect.Great for anyone who needs to take their computer with then without adding a ton of weight.Perfect for students to take to class.Highly recomended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great machine, ugly keyboard
Got the machine today. Great machine. A little slow the transfer to disk but the keyboard is dark grey with black keys. You can't see them if you do not use a head lamp. 5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Product
I love this computer - the screen is amazing (perfect for watching and editing movies or working with photos), the keyboard is comfortable (the keys make a little clicking noise that is quite pleasant), and the speakers are outstanding. The speed is great and the software package is decent (it wasn't terribly difficult to get rid of all that junk that comes bundled with it) but seems a bit stingy for the price of the machine.Be warned:this is certainly not a "laptop" - this thing is HUGE and quite heavy (but not that hot).

4-0 out of 5 stars Funny sounding name but a GOOD COMPUTER!
Great computer for entertainment and work purposes.I'm not a computer geek and may lack the technical language to explain the following but I found it easy to operator. The keyboard has short cut buttons for tv,dvd,cd etc.. The built in speakers are loud and clear, the screen is vivid and the colors pop! The minus 1 star comes from the dual mouse pad is a little too sensitive and would freeze if your finger touched more than one command. (only for a moment),the volume control dial response is a little slow and the obvious..it's a little HEAVY!(10 lbs)and awkward to balance on your lap. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars STAY AWAY FROM VAIOS
My laptop has completely broken down TWICE in the 1.5 years since purchase ($2100 new !!!!) Motherboard and hard disk replaced 6 months ago, and now motherboard needs to be replaced again. STAY AWAY FROM THESE GARBAGE-TOPS. There is already a class-action lawsuit against Sony VAIO laptops filed in California, and will be one filed in New York soon.

1-0 out of 5 stars Risky investment
I did not buy this computer but I bought two VAIO PCG-NV before. Both computers became very sick (memory slot problem, dvd-rom problem, lcd problem, etc) just after the warranty expired. There is a sony service center in my city but I was not allowed to drop my laptops there. I had to pay the shipping fee plus more than $250 for each computer to be repaired. A few months ago, one latop suffered from the "motherboard" disease. I decided that it is not worthwhile to save its life. The Worst purchase I even made.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nightmare
I bought 2 of these. One for myself and one for my wife. I have had to take both back in to the 'genius bar,' where some condescending Mac snob told me how great these are even though my harddrive died for no reason and I have LOST ALL MY DATA. My wife's machine was seriously overheating, to the point it would shut down. I am just so nervous now her machine will fry her internal hard drive and she will lose everything. I took it in to a Mac genius, who said it is working fine, but it keeps crashing. We work solely onto external usb drives now because I don't trust the mac. My laptop is in the shop for 2 weeks. When I get it back, I don't really want to use it because I just can't rely on it. I will never buy another Mac. Now I am stuck with 2.

5-0 out of 5 stars MacBook Pro Battery Exchange Program
I have had this machine since March. It always ran hot so much that you had to cover your legs when using it. The battery began to give me real trouble at the same time Apple announced its battery exchange program. Once I figured out how to read the battery serial number(I had to remove it and blow it up via the copier by 200%!) and even then it took me a while to figure out the final four characters, I called Apple, was told to use the web site, entered the info at about 3:00P.M. and received the replacement battery the next day by 1:00P.M. Called DHL at 1:30P.M. to pick up the old one and they were there by 3:30P.M. to return it to Apple. Excellent response and I wonder if Bill and his buddies would even consider matching that. Oh, by the way, the machine ain't bad either. ... Read more

Ignore the bad reviews about this laptop. One guy wrote about "missing cables". This is NOT a section for feedback idiot. And another wrote about (something else. I don't even know what it was. Something retarded). I am a MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer), and all I have to say is, there's nothing wrong with this computer as a whole AT ALL. It's fine! It wouldn't hurt to have more than a 20 gig harddrive, but other than that. It's fine. People need to learn about what they're talking about before they open their ignorant pie holes.
